Hello all,
Today I bought & downloaded the game through steam.
Installed it, pressed play, game key notice comes up, pressed play again and a pop up comes up; "Failed to start the game (Unknown Error)."
I tried the solution provided, which is deleting the 'appcache' folder and restarting the computer.
I tried re-installing the game
I tried running TrailsFMX.exe as administrator.
None of it seems to work, I also created an Uplay account but it doesn't seem I can link this to my steam or add my copy from steam to Uplay?
Also, when I just try to run TrailsFMX.exe it gives me an error that I might not have the right permissions, even though I am fully operator of my own PC.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Greetings,
When the game is installed, it should also install Uplay.
When launching the game from Steam it should then launch Uplay and from Uplay you click the 'Play' button to start the actual game.
You should have, possibly on your Desktop, a Uplay icon. If not it could be Uplay is not installed, or not correctly, hence the error... but I could be wrong and it could be something completely different that's causing the problem.
This seems to be a Steam error, sometimes it has to do with an executable file-size mismatch. I am not sure what would be causing it, but I will try to pull some pertinent links for you.Originally Posted by Unknown
According to a few Steam users this can be caused by ZoneAlarm and ESET. Not exactly sure what those are, but here's a relevant link.
This was indeed the problem, ESET is an anti virus and sees TrialsFMX.exe as a trojan so it instantly made the file unusable, that's why I couldn't access the file.Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai
Just shutting down ESET (Nod32) was enough to fix my problem.
Thanks for the help & replies.
Greetings,
As it's an AV program you'd be better off adding an exception for the executable, so it's sort of ignored by the AV but the AV still runs....
