yeah the little red box in front of the rider is the physics bubble options, and if you know how to change the size of the bubble mid track then that could also help alot, i myself dont know how to do this so i just have it set to max the whole way through.Originally Posted by sparkierjonesz
i read somewhere that any object outside the physics bubble is rendered as physical (solid) anyway so even if its set to decoration only it will not read it as this because the physics bubble cant register it so it presumes its physical (not moving just solid) and hence decoration only is doing nothing for you so this is why a big physics bubble is needed if you are going to be setting background to decoration only.

place 1 vds(variable datasource) change the value to whatever size you want it to be initially
go to the redbox and press y when on the size slider than click on the vds
now whenever you want to change it place an area trigger and set event, in the area trigger click on hit then click the set event(red line should appear)
then go to the set event(value of your choise) click event targets and then click the vds( a blue line should appear)
place more area triggers and set event whenever you want to change size
you find all options about bubble if you press up on d pad when you have the red box infront of rider selected
you can even change the bubble dynamicly so when tou have a more detailed section in a track you could reduce bubble to improve preformance[/quote]

Cheers sparkier and smeghead definately stuff that wil help with my track building
I'm about 99% certain decoration only also decreases your file size.
Anything that is not on the driving line I always set to decoration only. Every track. Like others have said, it helps with track performance. Especially with water(if you want to drive through it or under it also), bushes or trees. But if you do this, be sure to lock the rider and bike to the drive line. That way when you bail, your bike or rider never hit any of the decoration only parts.
I actually suggested once that Redlynx should make an option in the Editor's Option menu to automatically turn anything that doesn't touch the drive line to decoration. I think it would be a HUGE help.
i always use deco only on trees, plants etc...i turn lights down, the alpha to as low as poss, the light on the bike etc, etc, all to improve performance, and ease up on complexity.
Actually that is only the visualization of the bubble. The actual bubble is between 20-30m after that.Originally Posted by H3X23
Im starting to believe it adds up as you make your track like, overall lights/effects. On the other hand It seems to vary. I started building a track today with intense decoration as usual in big sands without a single hitch or hiccup. It could very well be certain things combined affect your track overall, the grass patches that come with the game as an example.. too many of them drops some serious frames. Add effects and lights for a real nightmare.
It would sure be good if this deco only worked on Terrain mods like hils and bumps, i bet that could save a ton of complexity.![]()

Decoration only has no bearing on complexity.Originally Posted by LitTlExJeZuZ
