Need Origins Of Pain if you get Riders Of Doom? | Forums

My brother-in-law just got a 360 and naturally picked up Trails Evo. He was having problems playing certain tracks from the marketplace and I asked if he had the expansion packs (he didn't). So he asked if he needed to buy BOTH packs, or just the latest one.

Now, I seem to remember reading here that the Riders of Doom pack had all the items/bikes that were added in Origins of Pain. Is this true? If so, and he just gets Riders of Doom, can he then play all the tracks in the marketplace?

Good question. I doubt that you'd get both. Even though there are some of the dlc from the first in the second dlc set of editor stuff, it is really only because they wanted to keep it together probably. They didn't do a very good job incorporating the new stuff with the old. They could have done a better job of arranging/rearranging everything together.

I never really got why sound sources are in common tools and not triggers and effects, I know it shouldnt be there but it just makes sense that it would be as the other things you need are also there.

Get both dlc's, they're great and worth the $10!

I remember reading the exact same thing how if you have the riders of doom dlc you can play any custom track.
Where shifty when we need him?

I believe RoD will allow him to play any track that used dlc, but he will miss out on the tracks from oop. At 400msp he may as well grab both tbh.

Yeah, I'd suggest both, too, but he's just barely scraping by and could use to save the cash. He only got the 360 as a frontend for Hulu/Netflix so that he wouldn't have to buy cable services, fortunately his GF had a big pile of DVD's to trade in so she just put the cash towards the 360.

I do remember reading it somewhere, but I imagine that he wouldn't get Paine Island, possibly just all the items/bikes which came with OoP.

I'm not sure if he gets the logic cards, bikes, helmets, outfits or Paine island in the editor. I think he gets the editor objects and the ability to play tracks created using either dlc. But I'm sure someone will clear this up as soon as they get the chance.
