    Re: Tomb Raider review

    Loved this game.

Played it on the PS3 and I must say I can't really complain.

I'm not sure how long it took me to complete, but I played on Double Hard (Hard game setting and also Hard in gameplay option in settings) and for the most part the game was pretty easy, of course, some of the later fights require you to be able to use the cover, dodge, as well as being able to use all of the weapons, doing all of the above simultaneously.
Finished at 78% with all the bonus tombs completed (god I love them, though some were bit too easy :[ )

Anyhow, great game, really do recommend even at full RRP

i never liked the early TR games^^ but this one, the new, seems very good! and because it is more storybased and was made with real actors i guess it will be really good.

    Re: Tomb Raider review

I think the old Tomb Raider games are definitely where it's at. This game is enjoyable but is far too "hand holdy". Combat is ok, but the types of enemy/fights are all the same really and I've never been a fan of QTE's. Not enough puzzles/if any at all. The older games used to have me stuck on puzzles for up to an hour on occasion. Nothing to test the mettle in this and I'm not down for just collecting stuff. Nothing beats TR1 in my opinion but this game is still worth a playthrough.

EDIT: Like the story, even thought it's cheesey and predictable. Not played multiplayer yet and don't really intend to.
EDIT2: That LaraVision spoils the game.

Yeah, it really does. Best just to pretend it's not there.

The puzzles are all extremely straightforward, too. Most just involve noticing the spot where you need to climb.
The last action/adventure game I played that I thought had really rewarding puzzles was Skyward Sword. Most modern games just use dumbed-down "filler" puzzles.

I've not heard of that but will definitely try to look it up. I really miss games like the original tomb raiders. Loved the review by the way, I agree with everything you say about it and am pleased you separated the two styles of TR games from each other. Good job!

Yeah LaraVision is lame... I never used it to solve tombs or puzzles cause it seems like cheating to me lol...

IMO it should only highlight the extra collectibles, which may be pretty hard to find in the foilage

    Re: Tomb Raider review

IMO it shouldn't exist/should be exclusive to easy mode. ALL of Eidos' modern reboots* have had it- Tomb Raider, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman: Absolution, Thief.... And it came from that crappy game Batman. Well, batman prob wasn't the first game to feature the see everything vision but I am going to blame that game cos it sucks.

*I call them reboots because they are not much like their predecessors really. Except Thief which we don't know much about yet. Looks butchered though of course.
