"Are you Original?" Theme Competition | Forums

Hey everyone,

I had a great idea last night. I know that there is the competition going on right now which will highlight great new tracks, which is good, but there is no real central theme, so every great track can undoubtedly be beaten out by a random better track.

My idea is that we start a competition with a central theme that everyone knows and create whatever style of Trial they want within that theme. This way your and my track can possibly hold their own within the contest and have a chance against the great track builders (kalinius, elmonator, emcee, barrybarfly, etc...).

(possible some rules regarding the editor to keep things on a level playing field)


Anyways, my ideas of general themes we can all use and yet still have all different tracks are.....

Summer at the Beach (any variation of a beach, ocean, carnival on the pier, etc...)
The Mall (the parking lot, inside stores, the foodcourt, etc...)
Farm Living (on farms, in barns, in cornfields, etc...)

So I think this would be a very good idea for a future competition.
It'll be easy to enter and as long as you can portray a theme you could possibly win.



So, any comments/ideas about this idea? Would love too start something like this soon.
(not too soon, working on some great themed tracks now )

Sounds like a good idea, but a bunch of comps going on right now, my suggestion would be hold off until April

yeah, like Jarr said..hold off due to ongoing competitions, then once they have ended, start this one going..this will keep interest too...

hmm, im not too sure about a set theme i wasnt too keen on redlynx's george washington theme comp just because i like to try and make an original track (if thats even possible anymore) and having a bunch of tracks all in the same theme just doesnt float my boat rly, i do like the idea of a set rules comp like the 3 object limit comp or the 12 second track comp or something along those lines where every1 has to follow a particular rule/guideline but if its the same theme comp again i dont think i will be entering. I just feel that this idea in comps kills off all the other tracks, e.g - if someone makes a farm track with cool tractors and things it would be a sweet track but iff every1 makes that theme it takes away a lot of the tracks interest and wow factor

if you can chose a theme that has quite a bit of diversity to it so that all the tracks are not too similar that would be ok, like horror for instance can produce a lot of different tracks whilst still following 1 theme, or a set in the future theme etc but something like a farm theme or a beach theme can only go 1 or 2 ways, plus i have plans to make a farm track that will go out the windo if every1 makes 1

this could be a great comp but please think carefully about the theme choice

I agree with you, smeghead89, about the worries of similar tracks in ways.
But there is no way any tracks will be similar at all, design wise.
Didn't really think this all the way through just thought it would be cool as I would never win in a competition with real pro builders so this may level the playing field a little.

I think Shopping or a mall setting has alot of options for builders. I have been meaning to make a good parking garage track.

Everyone please give ideas and suggestions for this theme track competition.

Not looking to start this until April/May anyways...not that I have prizes to give

thats why i didnt enter the G Washington comp...when i first built, i rushed like mad to release a track..now, i take all the time in the world, testing, checking detail etc,etc...

im building a subway at the minute..it leads onto a street, to a town...

hmmm a supercross competition, interesting...
sounds good.

I don't know. doesn't seem like people are digging this idea.
just sounded like a way to level the creation field of tracks so literally anyone who makes a track can win.
so I guess there would be no mass scale OPE's or some kind of limitation to only have the comp. be about the DL and overall theme appeal.

How about a "FutureCross" Competition.....
Any sort of variation of the "future", what you think it might be, but a supercross track.

But I'm talking good supercross tracks, RL quality.
Plenty of CP's.

So save those future supercross built tracks for the TBD of TBD.....for the start of the competition....haha
