Are the controls fully analogue?
What I mean is, when the stick is in the middle, the rider is in the middle; stick tilts right rider tilts right etc. ?
I dabbled into Trials 2 SE on PC with an Xbox 360 controller and noticed it felt digital, no better than playing with a keyboard (arguably worse, because of dead zones causing delay when the stick is centred while keyboard response is instantaneous).
The rider basically moved forward or backward as long as I held down the key/tilted the stick until it hit the maximum, instead of reacting analogue to your stick tilts and staying in the middle when the stick was centred.
The same with the accelerating - there was no analogue like half-gas or even 1/3 gas in T2SE, as soon as pushed the trigger to about half-way it's 100% gas or nothing. The only way to control acceleration a little was to tap the trigger/key.
Is it supposed to be like this and will it be the same in TEGE?
Just to add, I also tried an Xinput wrapper(not the crappy Motion in Joy-program) for my DS3, everything from calibration and the test app worked fine but Trials2 SE couldn't handle it (leaning worked but still felt digital with the sticks, however the select button was brake/reverse and no button seemed to accelerate lol).
*edit* Nevermind, just had the wrong XInput1_3.dll from the 64bit folder, as soon as I copied the 32bit one into the T2SE folder it worked fine, even rumble.
Wonder how it works in TEGE though.
Acceleration and brake: analog or digital (depending if you use triggers or buttons)
Leaning is digital.
Thanks, just to further clarify:
1)Isn't the brake/reverse digital on a trigger, or are there steps between 0-100% gas in reverse (or braking for that matter)?
2)Leaning is like in T2SE, so if your rider fully leans forward and you then leave the analogue stick in the middle he will stay leaned to the maximum (though I noticed if you push right and hold it the front suspension gets pushed down even further a bit) and not go back until you start pushing your stick to the left?
3)And am I correct that in T2SE both leaning and acceleration/brake is always digital with no way to change it (maybe to make it fairer against players with only keyboards)?
Played for a while now and I can't confirm what you said.Originally Posted by QcChopper
Acceleration seems digital, as soon as I push down the trigger ~50% it's full-on throttle - no way to give half-gas for example to ride slower than full speed, only tapping gas works (poorly) in that case.
There must be something wrong with your pad man.
Gas and break is 100% analogue! Hence you can do hillclimbs.
However leaning is digital - i dont know why, very annoying
Hm could be, can you tell me which one of those barsOriginally Posted by mike8
are moving when you press LT or RT?
RT and LT seem to do nothing on my page, but in the calibration wizard they move the Z axis (from middle to left with RT and right with LT).
Nevermind, found the solution:
I rebound the acceleration key to RT because in the defaults it was set to the A button which seemed odd to me...and that caused it to go digital.
So I just loaded the defaults again, accelerate still says A button but RT still works for analogue acceleration.
Still wondering thou if the brake/reverse is digital or analogue and if you lose that ability (if existing) on the LT if you bind it to the A button too.
Yeah, the triggers are the Z axism
Do you have any drivers for the pad installed?
If so, unplug and uninstall the drivers.
Restart your PC and plug the controller unce you're booted up. Wait for drivers to automatically download and try to play Trials again.
Good luck
Well the Z axis doesn't move when I press the triggers in the screen shown, but it does when I go through the calibration wizard and it works in Trials Evo Gold now (after defaulting controls in-game).
For example
this is LT pressed about half-way.
Anyway, problem solved so far.![]()
