Unable to start trials
Downloaded trials through steam and it all seemed ok, tried to start it and all I get is an error message saying trialsFMX.exe - unable to locate component, this application has failed to start because d3d11.dll was not found.
I have redownloaded it several times now and contacted steam support for help, neither of those things have helped. Can anyone here help me at all?

Re: Unable to start trials
Could be that your missing one of the dx runtime libraries and steam hasnt installed it automatically..
try this,,,
go here http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/downl...ils.aspx?id=35
download the websetup and install all the libraries..
quite a common fault for a steam game not starting is missing dx libraries...

Re: Unable to start trials
Thanks for that, I downloaded it and ran it and it says that a newer or equivalent version has been installed already and no installation is necessary.

Re: Unable to start trials
Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache?

Re: Unable to start trials
I`m assuming your gfx does support dx11..
how about trying to bypass dx11 and see if you can run it in dx9?
steam properties of the game, set launch options, add -dx9 to the command parameter..
its a long shot but its worth a try..
obviously if that dont work remove the parameter again

Re: Unable to start trials
Well sorry dude I`m at a loss now of possible causes/fixes..
had a good dig around for similar problems but nothing really coming up..
other things you could try are exiting steam and renaming the blob file then restart steam, see if it updates and corrects...
also try running as admin
apart from those I`m stuck,, good luck, oh and if you havent had a reply from steam support, change your ticket to payment failure and demand a refund, usually makes them get there finger out there u know whats it lol..

Re: Unable to start trials
Thanks for all the help, what do you mean by blob file? I have run it as admin and still no luck.

Re: Unable to start trials
If you go into your main steam directory there is a file called clientregistry.blob
its generally respnsible for keeping track of how games are installed where there installed to as well as the updating of the actual steam client...
you can exit steam, and rename the blob file,, then restart steam,, it should then re-update steam and make a new clientregistry.blob file,,
if it doesnt work you can simply exit steam again, delete the new one that was created and rename the old file back to what it was, then restart steam, that will put it back to exactly what it was before,,, its not a guaranteed fix but at times it has corrected games ive downloaded but were unable to start in the past..
