    Re: [Bug Reports] Video Performance

    I have also framerate problem. ( core i3 2,3ghz + ATI HD 5470 + 4go RAM = ~10 fps on 800*
    480 and low settings )

But I found something weird, if I activate the steam overlay (the Uplay seems to smooth the framerate but does not speed up the game) while playing the game goes ultra speed ! like 60 fuc**g FPS. Why ?!? Am I the only one?
It coule be a usefull information for the dev team.

Note: A common source of FPS issues with some games is the Steam overlay - but I tried disabling it and I didn't really see any improvement one way or the other.

Yes, I also tried to do. And it didn't helped much.
But in this case, the steam overlay seems to ... speed up the game ... Some Dx conflict is going on .

    Re: [Bug Reports] Video Performance

Just chiming in with another report of the absolutely awful graphics performance in this game. It can run at a solid 60fps one second, and then suddenly start stuttering horribly the next, for no apparent reason. One section of a track might run perfectly well or unplayably bad, it seems completely random. As others have noted, restarting a track will often make it run much better, and I've also found that simply pausing the game for a second or two will often bring the smoothness back.

So yeah, let's hope the promised fix turns out to actually work, because this issue is pretty much ruining an otherwise amazing game (well, except for some crashes, but that's another matter).

I have a feeling once they figure it out, there will be a huge performance boost.

It works so well on Xbox. They can't be far.

is the Update already released? It takes so loong .... i bought this game 2 weeks ago and playtime is 20 min : (

    Re: [Bug Reports] Video Performance

I wonder why you haven't released this patch yet given how many people are plagued by this issue.

I mean you already turned off some of the shiny xbox effects in the PC version for whatever reason. ( Yeah i noticed, surprised ? )

And that you require people to have a DX11 card just to play the game on 1080p+ is beyond me. Even more so because you can just force it by editing a .ini file, which just proves that it is possible.

So why would you not want people running higher resolutions on non-dx11 cards ? Because they might not get the desired framerate on a game that clearly is a technological marvel ?Crysis 3 etc. can't compare to this shining masterpiece.

I mean the xbox runs on a directx 9'ish equivalent API from 2005.

Did you just not care when you ported this version or are you really that incompetent ?

No surprise this games community is so small.

Next time develop the game for both systems at the same time or don't bother at all. Nobody needs a bad port.

    Re: [Bug Reports] Video Performance

Performance fixes have been done, and the patch is in certification. If everything goes well we expect to see the patch release this week or the next.

    ---

    Some tips:
    - Update your graphics drivers. Please download the newest drivers directly from the AMD or Nvidia website. Do not download graphics drivers from your computer manufacturer's site (Dell/HP/ASUS/Acer/etc) because those drivers tend to be pretty old.
    - If you are having texture gliches on AMD cards, download the newest drivers. Old drivers have confirmed texturing problems. Intel has also announced new drivers for HD 4000 GPUs (should be out next month). Hopefully those drivers will fix the texturing issues on Intel integrated chips.
    - If you are running the game in windowed mode, it's critical to have Aero enabled. If you have Aero desktop theme disabled, the game will lag heavily (in windowed mode).
    - Check the "Wait for vertical refresh" setting in your graphics control panel (left click on Windows desktop background and select AMD Radeon Catalyst Control Center or Nvidia Control Panel). This setting should be either "application controlled" or "on". If this setting is "off", you might experience lag when playing the game in full screen mode.
    - Additionally, if you have any texturing problems (gliches/popping), please set the texture quality, anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing settings to default (application controlled) in the graphics control panel.
    - Enable "VSync" option in the game video settings screen.
    - Disable "Advanced Effect" in the game video settings screen. This option has performance issues in the current build. "Advanced Effect" option will be fixed in the patch.

    Re: [Bug Reports] Video Performance

Vsynch on though (through the game or forced via driver) is questionable in my opinion since it adds more input lag.
As TEGE is capped to 60 fps anyway (likely due to the physics engine going nuts otherwise) and not much tearing to be seen I'd rather keep it off on a 120Hz monitor.

I'm also not sure how a forced 16x AF via driver can create problems (not that I notice anything texture related, aside from pop-in at the start) when it works in all other games flawlessly with in-game options set to 0x.
Speaking from Nvidia's drivers, haven't had any Intel iGPUs to play around with yet.

    Questions for you sebbbi:
What kind of AA does the in-game option represent?
I'd hazard a guess it's either FXAA, SMAA or MLAA - meaning post processing-AA of some sort.

No plans to offer a dedicated 4xMSAA-option (which could easily be enhanced via Nvinspector to 4xSGSSAA) in the future?
Or are you using a deferred renderer which makes it kinda difficult to implement?
