    driving line question. RAGIN

Can you not add waypoints or splinepoints whatever there called once you have made the start and finish to a straight track? Every time i press y on the yellow box to curve the track its saying too curved and the red lines go for miles in big arcs when they could go straight to the next waypoint. Im absolutely raging as i have just had to close my track without saving it as i could not get driving line to go white, it jut stayed on red even though i had the yellow starting square, then the green light thing, then green light finish thing then the last yellow waypoint thing in an exact straight line. Please help thanks.

I believe u can copy the starting spline point and pull it down the drive line, then grab and curve that point. Sounds like your trying to put a curve on one of the only two spline points, which would arc the entire drive line.

When you copy a spline point it comes after the one you copied. It sounds like you're trying to use the end spline point in the middle. You need to place the copied spline point at the end and move the previous spline point to straighten the driving line.

I think what everyone else is trying to say is; copy the first spline point, not the last one.

I press y on the first spline point, and drag it infront so it is between the beginning and end absolutely inline with them. Still too curved? Even though it could just do a straight line from start to finish it has decided to arc left in a huge arc then back around and in another huge arc before it gets to the next (middle) spline point!!! Its honestly the most annoying thing ever. My track is pretty much complete and its just this which needs sorting out?

Try pressing LT after you copied the first spline point, it should straighten out any curves.
I'm actually not sure of this, can anyone confirm this?

This. You can't add spline points from the end to the middle.

If you have point A (start), point B, point C, and Point D (End) you want a point inbetween B & C copy from B. you want a point inbetween C & D copy from C.

    Please note:
Any curved points you add alter the line before and after the point, meaning you'll have to realign EVERYTHING! This is why if I'm doing a curved line, I try to layout the curves prior to adding any objects to the driveline.

The best way to do this would be to use the object info (position) tool. Find the 'x' or 'z' of the end and beginning and use that to place the other point, if you want a spline in the middle of DL but STILL want it straight.

    ie

Start spline is 150 (x), end spline is 150 (x), middle needs to have the same 150 (x) value to maintain straight line. If the driveline is NOT on the 'x' axis or 'z' axis (which I'm going to assume its not) you'll need to use math and figure out the (x) and (z) positions. You'll need the equation of the line, so youll need to use the operator tools. Hey! Who knew math was actually important in a video game!? Find the slope of a line.

I shoudnt need to use that tool as they are all in a single straight line. I have had this problem on many tracks i have created and is only a matter of time before you come across the same problem. It cannot be explained.

I have even completely moved my route to a clear part of the map so i can clearly see things. I have the start spline, then the first start off point, then i have the finish checkpoint then the last spline and it says track is too curved. Can someone please explain to me how a track can be too curved if there is only a start and a finish with nothing else inbetween? I cannot honestly get my head around. As for the last comment before, thanks but its honestly overkill for what im trying to achieve lol
