The only game I have ever pre-ordered in my life was Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and I did not regret it. Wasn't nowhere near as good as the original though, but a fantastic game in it's own right. I knew a lot about the game before I pre-ordered.
I would never entrust my money to GearBox (which I presume is the reason you even watched the TB video). Borderlands is terribly overrated, as is Brothers in Arms. Duke Nukem Forever* was a complete disgrace to the previous Duke Nukem games (as you know), and now Colonial marines...
I've always thought that Gearbox were poor designers. I liked Half Life: Opposing Force, but that was basically a Mod/TC. All the assets and core design was already setup for them.
Total Biscuit is just saying the stuff I've thought for years- the video game industry will never be the same again and the majority of consumers just throw their money at whatever, further encouraging dirty business models and low quality games.

*GearBox is not completely responsible for DNF bad design, as it was a complete mess when they picked it up.
In case a game (sequel) or remake is about to come out i'm sure of i will like after seeing some trailers and previews i do make a pre-order, because i want those pre-order ''Bonuses'' which nearly every game is giving these days, even though i think it should be in the game pre-order or not.
I get why they do it though because more people will pre-order just for those bonuses, making the company alot of money whilst the buyers eventually regret it because the game sucks.
Whenever a game comes out i have never heard of/ am cynical about i wait till there are lots of reviews read them and then decide if its even worth to buy.
I know i've pre-ordered a game but i forget what it was, i don't think i'll pre-order again, for reasons Total explained, im not a fan of Gearbox too much anymore, i don't think i should've been anyway considering they only made a few good or ok games.
Tbh, the budgets AAA games have these days is complete madness, that I don't actually mind on disk/day1 DLC/pre-order incentives, as long as it is a GOOD GAME. But that hardly ever happens. Micro transactions and the rest can **** off though.
