    Simple lap counter

    Hi Evo-ers!

    Total noob question alert!

How do you set up a lap counter? I want to use portals to take me back to the start of the track... that bits easy enough, but I can't seem to get the lap counter to move after I go through the portal for the first time.

any help would be much appreciated.

Use a variable datasource, and uncheck reset in checkpoint? under game settings use a counter to show it on the screen

Hi again Jarr3t, Ive been banging away at the high jump track but can't tie my VDS to the checkpoint. I was hoping to try something simpler to start with and use a spliter to start the rest once ive got the laps bit.

Actually. Sparky has a track that runs in continuous circles, he can help you out. I'll send him link to this thread.

Just use a trigger to set off a state event and add 1 to the variable data source you are using to count the laps. Have it disable after hit, then reactivate it with a circuit that is triggered just before the portal at the end of the lap.

Spark didn't even use portals, if its a true circle track would look more professional

Did he use a slight spiral or something? Or did he reset to CP? How did he prevent people from just reversing, going forward, reversing, going forward and breaking his track? Just curious as to what method he used to make laps without any risk of some a-hole breaking the track or anything. Or wether you've got ideas to avoid that. Honestly, not trying to be awkward, just really curious!

He didn't have "LAPS" but was a continuous circle. Not sure if he did lots of dl in a loop or what. I just know there was no portals, and it was laps. I sent him the link to this thread, I'm sure he will give some insight!

    jarret is a liar

i do use a portals they just are so close together it almost seems like nothing happens( they are invisible)
didn't make a lap counter yet and not sure i will

can you tie a hit trigger to the portal? else place a a area trigger just near the portal and see if it works

also did you uncheck disable after hit on your area or hit trigger not sure what you used
