Hi,
I'm brainstorming about a community/official/non-official track sharing site. Where users can upload/comment/like/find tracks based on different filters (popular, most rated, most downloaded, etc..)
Ofcourse this will not be possible if there isin't any support from the developers for this. So i'm wondering if its possible we can get some insight how the track sharing will be organized outside the game. It would be incredible to be able to download tracks.
A fine example is Trackmania. Every decent trackmaniac knows tm-exchange.com an incredible succesfull community based around exactly the same idea.
This could really boost creativity and engagement for this game even more than it allready has on Console's
On an extra note. A replay system that has the option to be readable by some sort of webservice to manage leaderbords on the site aswell would be even better. And again would add an extra level of interactivity.
I'm a webdesigner/front-end dev that would be glad to build this with the community if all this is possible.
-Hoping for a kind dev to enlighten us about this idea![]()
Sounds like a cool idea, but i want to see first how the built-in track central looks/works on PC. If the info provided there is enough and browsing is ok, then we can leave only the discussion for out of the game.
Welcome to the forum, btw.![]()
Sounds like a good idea. I like the way that Trackmania's track sharing works.
I'm really hoping for the tracks to be saved in some sort of easily decipherable format, so they could be indexed by things like driveline length, allowed bikes, etc. I highly doubt Redlynx/Ubisoft would give a 3rd party website access to the Track Central database, though.
On the PC it's definitely possible. It could almost be like a 3rd party track central where users can rate and comment on tracks. Then users could make collages of tracks with special themes, like snow-themed tracks or tracks with a lot of loops. There are a lot of possibilities but I doubt RedLynx will do that after being used to the closed nature of Xbox Live![]()
great idea on the whole..

The site is still up and running but is hardly used any more. I think users didn't like the notion of having to generate the content itself, even though I made it fairly easy for them to do so. I've been chatting with RL about integration but that unfortunately was not an option for the XBLA driven Trials Evolution.
I'm hoping that will change when Gold comes out and RL will allow us to consume some of their databases for these purposes. They do have an on-premise database with some information, which they list on their site. GTC also featured the ability to upload and download custom tracks but I had to remove that due to XBL policy.
Please take a look at my GTC site and perhaps you would like to join forces to bring this to the PC version. The site has quite a few cool features such as:

[*:3ubt128m] Adding tracks including all information for search and custom tags[/*:m:3ubt128m]
[*:3ubt128m] Custom difficulties (for the ninja levels)[/*:m:3ubt128m]
[*:3ubt128m] Sorting and filtering by creator[/*:m:3ubt128m]
[*:3ubt128m] Ability to chat about a track[/*:m:3ubt128m]
[*:3ubt128m] Submit player times (including youtube video as proof)[/*:m:3ubt128m]
[*:3ubt128m] Scoring system based on Trials' internal scoring system (as implemented in the scoring sheet thread)[/*:m:3ubt128m]
[*:3ubt128m] Ability to host leagues/championships with scores/times using custom tags![/*:m:3ubt128m][/list:u:3ubt128m]
and much much more ... (read the thread for more features and screenshots)
Please take a look and tell me what you think. I would really like to revamp the site and consume RL's datasources for Trials Gold!

ive got to say that this Global track central should have been embraced more..its such ashame that all the great tracks have only a percentage of them saved only as youtube videos and sites like this.. i have a link to this site on my youtube feature page...if i had time, i would have happily helped with this..
there is also a youtube page purely dedicated to his opinion on the best tracks from each week since evo started..there are videos, google docs etc...
goto this link to find out more..

Yeah. Really a shame that it couldn't be used for evo. I would use this for sure.
