She claimed I was OCD and messing with the editor for a full 10hr night wasn't healthy and counter productive.
I let her know that I enjoy the creation process, then pretended to create a life with her...
However, I ended up doing the usual pull out.
Actually...the 2nd part didn't happen...instead, I agreed with her, will wait until she is asleep...then finish up my new track.
It's hard to argue with the fact you make zero money in the editor and only fame is TC.
Any good arguments I can use in the future on this problem? If Redlynx paid me to make tracks, it wouldn't be as bad perhaps. Even a salary of $1 per year, would technically make it "work"...right?
I know they have an application for level editor on the site...but the chances of that are brutally slim...even for the wrench crew.

My wifey asked me the other day "Do you even finish these tracks you're always building??"
She could live without Trials, and the "flailing of the arms when he crashes"

Not a waste of time. The things you learn in the editor goes for everything, not just trials. Showing Trials tracks at any game related job application won't at least make it any worse. If you were playing random games for 12h a day then maybe it would be different. Whether it's model making or repairing cars women have always been like that, you just have to give them a slice of your time. Unfortunately I don't know the magic argument, I had the same problem

i have a system with my missus.. she gets to watch her TV til 9pm, then its mine..it works well... i do find myself staying up all night sometimes though, when finishing a track..thats not good for the brain..
I feel worse when I go in the editor and have zero creative energy. Having continual thoughts for design and track flow feels good, even if the track isn't anything special. Being in the creative "zone" is awesome. 12 hour stretch...no problem.Originally Posted by Morfyboy

Movies are fine and some tv shows, but I can never sit too long not interacting with things. Maybe that's why mastorbachon came so naturally?

i hear you... if i get an idea nowadays, i write it all down..i go as far as to put it all in stages..i also scan through loads of images on google when i have ideas for themes etc... its a massive help, and it makes me STILL feel like im being busy...

Get her to join in, if not. Spend time with her and work around it to get a go on for editing. It's a hobby like anything else to be honest. We play, talk and develop things. You could say we are wasting our lives away in front of telly. But even if you were sat down watching a programme what's the difference?

A trick I like to play is make tea for my girl and then run her a nice hot bath. That keeps her occupied so I can go play xbox (and keeps you in the good books for a while).

assuming trials comes first, get yourself another ad up on craigslist detailing your "Trials Dates/Times" and fish for an upgrade that will put your needs first.
assuming you prefer your girl to building tracksmake a living from monetizing youtube vids of you playing trials with a camera on whilst you talk like a 3yr old to gain 100,000s of "fans" and tell her all that money is coming from people paying for your trials tracks.

I bought my girl trials to play while she is at her place. She can get gold on some of the Hard tracks which I was pleased with. I get her to test obstacles on my tracks.
When she come over she always says "can we do something that is not me watching you play trials?"
But this usually means I end up watching gypsys get married...
