Gears of war is one of my favorite series, not just for the gameplay but for the characters as well. Also, please no hate in the comments, discuss your opinions.

Have thought about this myself recently and surprised myself with the answer...2. I didn't have reliable internet for 1 and missed out. Played 52 something days on 2 and though it had it's issues it was fun. 3's over emphasis on the AR's totally destroyed any benefits the smoother movement provided. Judgement just sounds like a total joke.

Yeah, i am not extremely interested in Judgment. I will probably rent it, or i heard that a demo is on the way so i will try that. I still play alot of 3, although there are some problems with it. I had to choose "dont make me choose!" Option because i like them all for different reasons. 2 had the best story, imo 1 had the best multiplayer, and 3 has the most emotional scene (i will admit, i almost cried at a certain point ) as well as an ending that was satisfying, and Horde 2.0 which is adicting! thx for taking the poll!

Gears 1... it was fresh and new and the mp was the best imo...I thought the others were pretty ****e...too muchdude bro and mp relied on cheap tricks.

Gears 1 for me. Blew everything else away at the time. I never really caught on with the MP (crappy skills lol) and the campaigns may have gotten longer, better graphically maybe, but the first one is still my fav.

love that film ^

really liked the gritty, dark, atmospheric feel to gears one and I think its a shame they lost that in favour of more scenic landscapes... really took away the feel of desperation and brutality.
gameplay, retro and sawn-off in mp aside, was obviously best in gears 3 which, as someone who has never really been gripped by gears mp, was a very enjoyable game all things considered.

I have, and strongly dislike them all. God damn cover mechanic ruined third person shooters.
