Symbol for the top players? | Forums

I think it's cool that there is a True Fan and Track Builder symbol, but shouldn't there be one based on the objective of the game: to speedrun? It could be given to the top 20, 15, or 10 players. I was thinking a can of nitrous would look sweet (as long as we could differentiate it from the wrench).

What do you guys think?

No, the wrench was introduced because there are no 'building leaderboards', so it's impossible to say beforehand if a builder is good or not. The wrench provides a guarantee for a player browsing tracks that the tracks of this builder will be good.

However, the best speedrunners already get their recognition by being placed at the top of the leaderboards, so another reward for that would be a bit overkill I think.

I personally think it would be a good idea, I can understand what mice is saying, however not everyone looks at the leader boards and obviously as much as people don't like to admit it around here, Deep down they want to show off how good they are to others, so why not give the top speedrunners something to show off with other than there replay? (which most might not even watch anyway) Sure its an ego boost, but at the end of the day they work hard for their times just as the track creators work hard on there tracks, so why the hell not !?

If you want to know who a top rider is you look at leaderboards. There was no option for finding top builders. So I dont really see the need for there to be a top rider award. After all, only riders get a message scrolling across the main menu saying who is the worlds number one. Only riders have leaderboards. I really dont see why they would need a symbol too.

The flip side of that is that if RL decide they do want to give riders a tag, then I'd be first to congratulate anyone who got one, as its not something I would be overly bothered about RL awarding to people!

if it was ever to happen, then goodluck to them..i can see both arguments and what willyumz said about the possible agro it would cause, and also in what barry said about the fact that top riders are at the top of the LB and the name scrolling....i can see how you would want one though...

i would say congrats to anyone that received any award, as i have done.

I say redlynx should bring out anything that keeps the players happy

If the top players want some kind of 'tag' recognition then give it to them

why not? Unless it costs them money to keep putting little symbols out then why not

maybe have a little plume of smoke after their name?

maybe if you beat platinum time by say 4 or 5 seconds you get the plume of smoke on your name on that particular tracks leaderboard? now thats a good idea : )

As long as Ninja players are classed as top players too then sure why not
