Will Justice in the UK finally prevail?

Watchin the news today i saw that the Lib Dem MP Chris Huhne finally admitted his guilt over a speeding ticked that was issued to him "9 years" ago (God knows how much public money has been spent in this time?(I hope it is taken into consideration when/"if" a punishment is given))

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21320992

It got me thinking will this MP actually get treated the same as the general public? .... or, as were often showed time in time out by our crappy justice system, will he just get a slap on the wrist(crim record) & a miniscule fine?

If the justice system actually follows its own rules/guideline then he should recive a min of a 4 month sentance for perverting the course of justice and a max of 2 yrs(considering he has lied for 9 years and he is a Member of parliment, the max sentance even seems small).

Also the min fine for speeding is £60 & since he was caught speeding on a motorway the max fine is £2500+ court fees ( again please also remember the amout of money taken from the public purse to pay for 9 years of legal fees to prove his "innocence", by puttin the blame on his wife. )

Heres a simular case close to the year mr Huhne got nicked .... these parents wernt so lucky (but their only "normal" people so thats what u expect from the uk justice system.

So ... there have been many cases in the last couple of years when the justice system would s**t all over you if you are a member of Job public, very swiftly! .... but in cases of well known figures .... cases are dragged out ( more public money spent) or they get a "slap" on the wrist e.g

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18961228 (started 2010 - court date set > Sept 2013) ( and that could contiune if they appeal(more public money)

I personally think he`ll get small fine & a suspended sentance .... But it would be good if the judge dealing with Mr Huhne`s case shows that he still owns a pair of balls n more importantly n morally, actually dished out the "fair" punishment to him, just as he would to a "normal" civilian!

    Youre views ... if any?

All stupid, they scared the goverment owuld get angry or their parliment would collapse, same thing happened with the guy who swore at a policeman, he got a slap on the wrist, be it he lost his job he still didn't get the same as the public.

You want justice for a speeding ticket? If you have money you can get out of a lot more than a speeding ticket. I see that as just peas and carrots compared to real injustices of the world.

Yeeah what JM said. For your information it was about half a million pounds spent from taxpayer's money to pay for the legal processes to get from the original crime to now. I can't imagine he will get properly punished for this, but there's not really any surprise there. Yepyep its all hypocritical ******** and stuff but what are you gonna do? People just bend over and let that big ole veiny member slide right up and in them. English people can be too docile on matters like this, although this one in particular isn't THAT bad in comparison to some stuff. What about the outrageous stuff Piers Morgan got up to and eventually just fled the country to avoid. And what happens? A judge position on one of the countries biggest (and most awful) television programmes. Even after they found out he was aware and lied to cover-up phone hackings, still nothing.

One of the most disturbing instances of crimes getting ignored because the offender was in a position of power in recent years was the manslaughter of Ian Tomlinson by a policeman. At first he was just going to be SUSPENDED (lolwut) but did end up at least getting sacked, but didn't go to jail for committing manslaughter on an innocent member of the public. Absolutely despicable.

Either way, as much as we like to complain about this stuff in this country (and we should) you've gotta consider how much better it is here than in some parts of the world. The stuff that the forces of power get away with in other countries boggles the mind in the most distressing fashion.

I agree with everything u say DannersMac apart from what JesusMauler said.... I would like to see justice for a member of parlament who lied for 9 years no matter how miniscule the crime was ... he should get punished the same way as everybody else.

Yes worse things happen in other parts of the world, but most of the time, our country has got a hand involved ... how hypocritical is that???

I would be surprised if huhne dosn't go to jail. Personally i'm against prison for all but the most serious offences eg murder rape peado's. If Huhne goes to jail i hope his ex wife goes to jail as well as grassing yr ex up to the papers is worse than speeding. 1 last point perjury is 1 of those crimes that judge's often do throw the book at mp's. Going by previous verdicts Jhonathon aitken, Geoffrey Archer, Tommy Sherriddan i reacon he'll get at least a year and probably serve at least 6 months.
It's easier to put an mp in jail than some of these bankers that committed crimes against humanity, I don't even see the point in jailing these guys either as i would rather see them getting their proceeds of crime seized and them getting an honest usefull job. As i think the city, wall st etc is a brain drain as allot of the brightest people work there as opposed to doing somthing of worth and prison is a waste of money.
