So today my Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition will finally be delivered.![]()
I know some people on here are using such a device to record Trials vids so I just wanted to ask if there are any things I should know in advance.
I havenīt used a video capture device before so any advice would be appreciated![]()
If its like the first oneThen all you gotta do is setup the Total Media Extreme software, set to the .M2TS file type, and hit record. Super simple. Take that file and upload to youtube.
Thanks guys. So it seems itīs really as simple as Hauppauge describes it
@vladi
Iīll give feedback after the weekend but I donīt have anything to compare it to so I donīt know what itīs worth...
Maybe a fellow trialer would enjoy purchasing that from you....? hmmmm??Originally Posted by vladiiiiiiii![]()

The PVR2 has HDMI hookups? SWEET
I'm guessing you're on a MacOriginally Posted by vladiiiiiiii?
I use the ElGato for NRLP videos with h.264 mp4 encoding. It has HDMI pass-through and keeps my desk tidy.
It also works great with Xsplit for live-streaming.
Ok, so far Im pretty happy with it. Setting it up is very easy, then just install software and drivers, press record, have fun![]()
One flaw though. I thought about buying an Avermedia Game Capture HD before but I didnt because it doesnīt have HDMI. BUT: You can record via remote control to an external HDD with no PC involved. I dont know about the quality of the recordings but feature-wise that one is far ahead as long as you dont really need the HDMI in- and outputs (like I do).
What software did you get with the HDPVR2? I really hope its not ArcSoft ShowBiz. Thats what i got with my HDPVR Gaming Edition v1 then i said screw this POS, went online and torrented TotalMedia Extreme- an older version of software that originally came with the PVR, i didnt feel guilty because its basically like downgrading to an older AND working version that i still paid for.
I had typed a long response to this thread yesterday covering a few bases that you should know about, then my computer crashed.So im keepin this one short. Let me know which software you got and if you have any issues, i can help out.
Edit- Setup and installing should be simple. Make sure you have a folder that your recording saves to, it should be your default video folder. Also just thought id mention that Youtube is kinda crappy bout uploading videos that have numbers in the video file name, so whatever it saves to- change it to something simple like if its a track named Sunset, i just name it SS, then upload it. Just dont have any numbers in it or you will get some kind of error message bout 50% through the upload process- so this is a little bit of timesaver.![]()
I got Showbiz with it but it seems to be working so far...
