    Re: Urban Trial Freestyle

I've brought it for my Vita and got the demo on PS3, probably buy it later on that as the two are slightly different.
I quite like it tbf, its pretty addictive. The graphics are very nice and some neat little touches what with the online challenges and photos of the leader for certain sections. The handling is stiff as folk have seen and I doubt you can do certain precise moves like in Evo/HD. I haven't unlocked all the tracks and haven't brought all the bike parts yet, so not sure what or how they will be.

Id say its way better than any phone/tab trials game, but Evo and HD have still got the crown!

FYI Jet is it a cross-play deal on this one? Still waiting on my PS3 to get back to me from hospital and I refuse to buy one of those ugly slim things.

Not sure about the cross-play pal, but im pretty sure its not a cross-buy deal (buy one version, download the other for no extra cost). If i buy it on PS3 and my Vita times/scores are on there, then it must be. Not sure if that would show up on a demo.
Its certainly gave me my trials fix whilst the wife was watching TV tonight. Managed to get a first place spot on a speed run track too.

I actually meant cross-buy anyway. Cheers.

    Re: Urban Trial Freestyle

I got it, luckily I had low expectations for it. The graphics seem nice at first, but the animations are choppy.

On the positive, the levels are more interactive and have a lot of "neat" set pieces. Lots of scripted events and physics.

On the negative, its physics are about as good as most of the trials clones available on the iphone. That is to say they are terrible. The bike bounces around in a very unatural way. THere is a definate lack of percision when trying to control the bike. Its almost like most of the bike movements are pre-made animations instead of real physics, if that makes sense.

I dont know, at eight bucks I dont regret buying it or anything. It just makes me sad that I still dont have a good trials-like game to play on the go.

Sony just announced that all Playstation 4 games will be able to be streamed on the Vita, perhaps next iteration of trials will be multiplatform. I dont plan on going the microsoft route next gen anyways, not with all I hear about focusing even more on kinect... freakin kinect.

The stiff animations make it look like a cheap knock-off of Trials 2 SE with better graphics. The jerky camera movement is really nauseating, too.

Not surprising, considering it was made to run on the Vita.

    Re: Urban Trial Freestyle

I did the double PSN/PSVita buy for this one. Have only played the PSN version. One can really appreciate the "generally" solid 60FPS that Trials delivers after playing something like this and as expected physics are nowhere neat as sophisticated, but it has some cool touches too.

Instead of unlocking bikes (at least from what I've seen so far) you collect cash and use that to buy part for your biked that upgrade certain stats. It was interesting I thought.

Overall it is a poor mans Trials, but it cost peanuts and I'll get some fun out of this for sure.

At least Sony have officially confirmed that they will not be blocking used games on their platform so now the ball is in M$' court. I don't like what I'm hearing already, but if they push too hard with that PoS Kinect crap that they are forcing on everyone-not because we want it, but because they've invested a ****load of $$$ into it and need to recpoup-and if they get too draconian with DRM and this anti-used games BS, I'll gladly pass them over.

I really can't answer your questions right now as I haven't even thought to try and see a replay or inspect the leaderboards. I did notice that at the end of a run it would show the ID and Avatar of the present track leader.

Of noone has answered our questions by the time I log-in next, I'll confirm those details for you.
