Highly recommend getting this game. It is fantastic.

Take it to the next level with free mods. My recommendations:

Eduke32, http://eduke32.com/ Source port to a better engine. Made by "Elite ninja programmers". A requirement for the following-

DukePlus, gameplay enhancer- reloading, mantling, dual wielding, more interaction, Karate Kicks, few extra guns and much more. Optional menu to toggle some features true/false too: http://deeperthought.dukertcm.com/

HRP- Better Graphics, swaps sprites for 3D models plus better world textures. http://hrp.duke4.net/ I like the old sprites but better looking weapons is always nice....

PSX Music pack- Superior than the original PC midi tracks by far: http://hendricks266.duke4.net/music_packs_psx.php

With this setup Duke destroyed most of the **** FPS you get today. Although it probably does vanilla too. That level design!

Do not miss out on this completely free opportunity. Not for kids though. (Though I completed the game when I was a mere ten yrs old )
If you played Duke Nukem Forever, dont let that mislead you. That game was a complete joke. Old Skool Duke is nothing like that. If you are a noob at games dont waste your time though; it will massacre you.

I started playing Duke Nukem back in the days when it was a side scroller, like Commander Keen.

So many memories.

I was sooooo gonna pass on this... and then you had to mention mods.

God bless mods.

They are literally the sprinkles, the fudge, the caramel, the nuts, the cherry on top of what was shipped as vanilla ice cream.

I hadn't done any PC gaming since Half Life. The first one. That is, until I got a steam key for Defense Grid when I helped fund the Kickstarter for DG2.

Now I have 35 (!) games on Steam, and a new graphics card (and power supply) in the mail. I was a console junkie/fanboy, but now I'm back in the swing of things.

So yeah, long story. Sorry for the rant, I'll check this out.

Im going to join GOG just for this. Duke 3D is one of the best FPSs around even to this day IMHO. Thanks for posting those mod links mr apdenton
