    Marathon and 100%

    Finally did it.

I bought Trials HD back in the day, but quit very early on as i had no clue how to play and wrote it off as too hard. I reached king of the hill and timed out and rage quit whilst cursing Redlynx for releasing such a hard game without any serious tutorials on technique. It pissed me off at the time, because i could tell it was a great game.

When Trials evolution came out I decided i want to learn how to play this game, i watched replays learned little tips and gradually got to the point where i could pass all the tracks. Now i have most of the game platinumed bar some of the extremes and tournaments. I don't plan to go back to those until I've gotten better at the game...but so far i am ranked around 2500ish (1500ish + dlc) and though unimpressive is a long way ahead of where i was in April.

After a while i decided to apply what i learned from Evo to HD, I went back and passed every track (dlc included) and even started getting platinums (something once unimaginable). Today i attempted the last achievement left in the game and completed the Marathon (yeah i know its the dumbed down version, but no mean feat) and thought id celebrate this milestone with this post.

Anyway, just needed to share this and give myself a pat on the back LOL

    Re: Marathon and 100%

Nice one pal. I had Trials HD from the off, never gave up on it really (ask the misses, she loves that engine noise as I try to get over a box or something for the 400th time). Probably stopped playing it when Evo came out and I never managed to grab the Marathon one yet. Need to go back and attempt that one. Saw on another post to take my time any other tips or tracks to look out for. Is King of the Hill in there, if so I won't bother, my worst track ever.
Well done again though pal, sure is a tough one.

    Re: Marathon and 100%

Im hardly an authority on Trials, but my approach was to play through it a couple of times and identify the tracks where i made the most silly errors. I narrowed those down to: mother of all jumps, under ground, jolly jumper and groundhog returns (these will obviously be different for different people). I played those individually until i found a conservative and reliable way of zeroing them. After that, i played through the tourney, took it slow amd surprisingly did it pretty easily.

This is the dumbed down version of the achievement so no king of the hill, just a mixture of beginner, easy and medium tracks. Its not hard, but without due care its easy to make a silly mistake somewhere that causes you to fail.
