I realize that question may seem a little confusing so allow me to explain. What I am trying to do is place objects like I normally would as the path for the rider to follow. Afterwards though, I like would like to make the objects invisible but would still like to retain the path that they created for the rider. Just to give an example: Suppose I have a ramp that the rider will go up, I just want the rider to be able to follow the path of that ramp as if it wasn't even there. I know I have seen a few user created tracks that have done thisnvisible bridge with mystical sound is one I've seen) , so I would like to know how to do it myself.
I tried using a visibility event but that just makes the object invisible so the rider acts like it isn't even there. I want to acknowledge that the object is there but the player can't see it.
Change their status to contact response in their options.![]()
You sir...are AWESOME! lol It's amazing what a little option can do to open up the possibilities for a track. The funny thing is I have seen that option before but couldn't figure out what it did exactly, so I just left it alone and never messed with it, as seems to be the case with quite a few options in the editor. Thank you very much!Originally Posted by Barrybarfly
wow i was going to suggest using custom collisionsOriginally Posted by Barrybarflyi cant believe i didnt know if you switch it to contact response it would still apply when its invisible
. this is great to know ..... quick question if you know, is there any way to obtain the shadow from an invisible object?
Not that I know of. Nice to see someone considering shadows though, lots of tracks dont have any.
not to worry thanks anyway buddy, yeah shadows can add a rly nice atmosphere or effect sometimes, I've seen a couple of tracks where the rider is simply a shadow as well as the objects he's riding on, is this just clever use of the camera do you think with the rider out of sight but not his shadow?
I suspect its either the rider and sun behind the camera, or the rider is behind the camera and a dynamic light follows him (with all environment settings at very dark and a bright background). But I'm not really a fan of silhouette tracks, so I've never experimented with it or tried to find out! lol
thanks yeah thats how i thought it might be done, im also not rly a fan of silhouette tracks but i do like the idea of adding silhouettes to normal tracks, i did it myself in my mortal kombat track where i cast a silhouette shadow of the mortal kombat sign on the floor, invisible objects that could cast shadows would have made this so much easier and would be be a nice touch to the editor
