Hello everyone.
I thought I'd start this thread up to see what everyone sees as their strengths and weaknesses as track creators. What do you think you excel at? What (if anything) do you find yourself constantly struggling with or are completely clueless about?
For me, I think my biggest strength is the use of sounds. I use more sounds (ambience and event) than anyone else I know. My biggest weakness? I have no idea how to use/ modify logic. I have never touched data values or anything like it because it is completely alien to me lol. What about you guys?
I'd say my strength is in some of the logic. By no means am I a pro, but I've taken a decent amount of programming classes through schooling and I am more in tune with the type of thought required for certain logic strategies. Also possibly my view of being a bike rider (not a trials rider) gives me an interesting perspective on track design.
Weaknesses are definitely in the 'ambiance' and feel of a track. I have a driving line and then I have no idea how to decorate it, or anything along those lines. I am absolutely horrible at 'background' design.
I think my weakness is in the driving line, from looking at replays they're never quite perfect.
I don't think I really excel at any one thing, but I'm relatively competent with both design and logic stuff. So while some people create tracks that look amazing, and others create technical masterpieces with the logic stuff, I'm somewhere in the middle.
I'm just starting with track creating but I think I'm the same as Lukeyy19.
I excel at making test-tracks with no goal and losing interest in my projects too quickly. I've got a drivable vehicle, partially-done aircraft, platformers and now a turret :/
Strength - Natural environments, flow, drivelines
Weakness - Fine detail
Weaknesses - natural environments, complex level design, lighting
I've always felt my tracks look too uniform. It's hard for me to think artistically so I end up relying too much on repetition and symmetry. Probably because I focused so much on stretching the limits in the Trials HD editor.
I think I am completely opposite of you, I envy how organized your tracks in HD looked. Crazy Horse was probably the best example I can think of. I feel like the visual design of my tracks is always too jumbled and random. I envy how cohesive your environments look.Originally Posted by xIronWarlordx
strengths: driveing line, environment, and flow.
weaknessess: my own skill level, it keeps me from making really hard or ext. tracks.
GT: NEDpowerPIG .....check them out and let me know....
