I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to this sort of thing but have a few questions if anyone can help?
1) Is there a noticable improvement switching from component to HDMI?
2) Does the quality of the lead matter (i.e gold connectors etc)?
3) Is there any difference between the official xbox HDMI cable and other makes of cable? Is this just a case of paying for a named brand?
4) I know there are different types of HDMI cable, so if I bought a non official cable what connectors would be needed (i.e. HDMI 1.0-1.2, HDMI 1.3, HDMI 1.4 etc). I knowthey have different amounts of pins but will they all work with an xbox?
Also:
I'm going to buy the new 250gb Matte console soon, do this come with a HDMI cable or just the SD cable?
Oh and also:
Is using the integrated WiFi better than using an ethernet cable in terms of connection speeds? I don't want to get loads of extra lag when playing online multiplayer games like COD.
Apologies is any of this makes me sound like an idiot, as I said, I'm not very enlightened when it comes to this stuff. Cheers!![]()
I dont think it would make any noticable difference in terms of the pin amount but HDMI 1080P Is the best choice for sure...
i didnt buy an official one..to expensive..
also,i must stress that my friends and i have had this conversation as some guys get tearing on tracks that i dont n vice versa..
i think its down to T.V. choice too...i also think that my xbox settings can play a factor as well...
My TV is ok LG 32" HD 1080p something or other (only a year old). I don't need the most up to date stuff. I just wonder if changing the cable would make a massive difference?
Thanks for the reply mate.![]()
Yep...from component to HDMI,you will see a crisper defined picture...and colours more dynamic..

Know anything about using WiFi over cable too?![]()
the hdmi socket on my xbox busted on me a few weeks back.
now using the scart lead, everything seems really blurred. its even difficult to read the track descriptions on T/C. playing standard deff, after you have been used to 1080p is a right $%&*$%.
high deff = highly recomended!
getting a new xbox at end of the month though.![]()
Cheers finchy. And also bump! I wanna know the answer to the WiFi question! Thanks!
Wifis built in dude...im wifi, n have no problems....
I noticed a difference going to HDMI cable and brought a cheap one off the internet. My Xbox isnt wifi so I have to use a cable which is no problem as hub is next to it. I would use cable even if I had a wifi xbox. It seems to download demos, games and stuff quicker than my PS3 which has built in wifi. It depends also pal where your router is and if u want cables and wires about. Its a nightmare behind my TV.
Cheers guys. Haha well currently my router is one floor down and on the other side of the house. My 20 metre cable only just reaches!
