Track Central Stats: They aren't Broken

The rating and download statistics for tracks are not shown in real-time numbers. Track Central updates these stats at set intervals. As such, newly released tracks can appear as if their rating and download stats are broken. When many tracks are uploaded in a short amount of time none of their stats have a chance to update before being pushed off of the list by newer tracks.

When this situation occurs it appears as if Track Central is broken when, in fact, it is working correctly. Just because a track shows zero (0) downloads and zero (0) ratings does not mean that the stats are not being stored. The highest rated tracks, even if their stats currently show no ratings and downloads, will still be pushed to the “Highest Rated” feeds.

We are aware of the perceived issue and are working closely with Microsoft's server team to revise the way that statistics calculate so they are shown in a more reasonable amount of time.

Re: Track Central Stats: They aren't Broken

    Thanks for the clarification, Shifty.

I knew that the download and ratings stats were saved, regardless of wether it was reflected or not. The problem is that when people upload tracks and no ratings info reflects on Track Central, a track that the creator potentially spent 4 weeks making doesn't show up in any of the feeds. In the case of my latest track, it wasn't in the feed until several hours later, potentially missing out on additional downloads and ratings.

Short version: I think it would be better if the time it takes TC to "refresh" was a bit shorter; maybe make it refresh every hour.

Sooooo, what you're saying is "Barry, stop freaking bumping your post where you report this issue, because we're doing our damdest to fix it!"?

Message recieved and understood! Hopefully there will be some kind of solution for this so that there is a smaller delay. Another option may be that the 48hr feeds become 72hr feeds, so that the stability the delay provides (presumably) is maintained, but tracks can still be on that feed for a 48hr period (48 plus 12-24hr delay in ratings)? Just an idea for you guys to consider.
