Re: Discussion: Waiting to post a time until the final minu

I have only played this game when connected. Same as with Trials. Both are not as fun when offline due to the lack of competition. Anyone worrying about someone gaining an advantage (on a 1000 day game) by watching their replay needs a reality check!

You make a good point... to a point. The advantage for the person who does this, especially a top player, is more score without the other competitors having time to counter it. Helps to move up the ladder faster, so to speak. For example, suppose I beat Nytmair's score by 300 points during the day and I'm 300 points behind him in the globals. NM just isn't getting a faster time, but if he saw the line I was using he could get within 50 points or even beat me. Since this game is a finite game (no more days after 1000), I then have to work that much harder in the remaining days to catch up to him. That's the strategic view. In the pride view, wins matter. As my xbox profile says, 2nd place = 1st place loser. A less scrupulous person would cheat their way up the the ranks. An honest player will just put their best time out there, no matter when they get it, to see how it's going to stand against everyone else using (or modifying) that line.

Re: Discussion: Waiting to post a time until the final minu

Haven't checked the forums for a while, hence my delayed reply.

This is an interesting thread! I agree on the sentiment that a last-minute-posting of a top score is not sportsmanlike. Then again, it's not cheating either because there is no hack/glitch/etc. involved. One should also compare this to the discussion about replays versus no replays. As for myself, I sometimes don't use replays at all and just try how far I can go up the leaderboards this way (this also has to do with my overall skill as I'm not a top-10-player - for a top-50 to top-20 spot replays are not that important).

As for playing habits, I have it very similar to Alvyronson: downloading the new level, maybe playing 15-20 minutes online, then continue playing offline, then go online again, etc. have a WiFI iPad). So, I'm also glad that I can post scores later.

Re: Discussion: Waiting to post a time until the final minu

I consider posting in the final minutes of the race to be the same as b*tch slapping the current #1 who just got pushed to #2 with no time to respond. Many or most of us play right up till the final second.....and posting a winning time in the final minutes is not an impossibility at all. Doing it on the majority of the races you play however isn't a coincidence anymore. It's a chosen decision that winning at all costs is what's most important. Which is great...if that's what you want....wins, and being on top certain leaderboards. My question is, is it worth it...if you completely lose the respect of the players that you b*tch slapped to be there?

I say no, and I won't be sucked into that kind of play style.

Very nice 1.1 second improvement in the waning minutes of the day, Rook, to take first! Elm must feel b*tch slapped for sure!

Tell me it doesn't smell fishy, nully. A 1.1 second improvement with about 5 minutes remaining?

that it sounds fishy or not, its not my point... but rook is very capable of that. You trying to call him out on it is a bit fishy. I have found this game to provide way more drama then ive ever needed from a video game... so no matter if he posted a time late or not, it is really is a mute point. its a game and i think some of us have forgotten that. Please try to understand my point.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Rook can certainly defend himself if he so chooses. His silence in this matter is deafening.
