No, but I can see online streaming in general taking over cable. Things like netflix, hulu, and Amazon. I personally dont have cable, only netflix and Amazon Prime. I cant justify the price of cable, especially considering all the commercials.

I haven't had had TV for about 6 years, not even basic cable or antenna. I really don't feel like I'm missing anything.
I had access to cable tv in college, but I never watched it. The internet is just so much more convenient (and I don't have to watch any ads).
The only time I wish I had cable TV is during the Olympics, because streaming in the US sucks. I might just try to stream through a proxy in the UK next year.

The Superbowl was streamed live in HD with a ton of "select your own" camera angles on CBS.com.
Until the amount of shows and sports that are around on cable are offered online, for similar price, both cable and satellite will stick around. Some people still don't have broadband due to region (where I live in Kansas I ha to use a 3G network wifi card) so they wouldn't be able to use streaming services either.
While the world is getting closer to having the global broadband infrastructure needed to for digital distribution of games, and streaming content, it is not yet there. This makes me think of the digital download only rumors for consoles. If that takes off, then they will be locking themselves out of what is still a size able market.
TLR - Infrastructure not there for cable to go away completely.
Good point. It will happen eventually though.Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai

Stuff like Tosh.0 floats my boat because I don't have to pay attention to it the whole time to know whats going on.
I rarely watch TV and if pressed to come up with a favourite category it would probably be comedy (mostly of the British kind) followed by well produced intelligent drama. Not the hugest fan of Sit-coms, but Seinfeld is certainly a classic and if they qualify Black books and the IT crowd still tickle the funny bones.
BTW Soup can man, there's some major categories left out what about documentaries?
