    Command & Conquer Generals 2

    WTF

What an Earth was going through EA's twisted minds as to why they thought making the upcoming C&C Generals 2 renamed to Command & Conquer and making the game Free to Play, online-ONLY!(thats right, theres absolutly no campaign on release i sure hope it will come out later, knowing EA it wont), god almightly i hope there is still a skirmish mode but i dont even know if it will be on Console (i play RTS's on console).....

What does you guys think of this idea... i mean at least from the trailer the game looks very pretty.

Yeah, Im pretty angered by it as well..

EA wants to push this whole "F2P is the future" thing, and they're trashing the new C&C in order to do so... I saw the first preview for it at the VGA's and nearly pooped myself in excitement, but after hearing this, I sincerely hope EA gets ridiculed for doing it.

I doubt skirmish will exist, knowing how fickle and cheap EA is. Its gonna be another one of those barely played F2P titles that flies by...

I mean, I wouldn't mind it if they decided to do this, but not as long as they're sacrificing titles that have such great potential as C&C..

Yet they're may be light at the end of the tunnel. They dropped the "Generals 2" subtitle, which I think means that they WILL release Generals 2 later with Skirmish and a campaign amongst other things... fingers crossed.

As for this hunk of garbage... no.

I'm super excited for command and conquer generals 2, campaign and skirmish that is. As for online, I don't play that.

Just campaign and "private matches" aka skirmish is all I want. I will be looking forward to that when they decide to do it.

Offline pc games don't make any money because almost everybody pirates them. The online free to play model IS the future because it it's the most efficient way for a company to get money from people because it essentially eliminates piracy.

I have a strong feeling that it wont come to console as a F2P, i dont think there actually are any on console, on CnC Kanes Wrath Skirmish goes all the way for me and the campaign for Tiberium wars 3.I honestly dont know why they are doing this i cant start to think what they thought of the idea.

93%-95% of offline games are pirated and thats ALOT of piracy.

I dont play online either because its so uncommon to find players on console and if i do find players they do rush tactics exactly the same as the CnC Vets you see playing on PC-Power Plant, Barracks, 2 Riflemen Squads, 1-3 Engineer, Guard Tower (sell), i see alot of players doing this and games go super fast, i usually set up a match and make 2 AI's with 1 player slot.(the highest amount of players i saw online was 119 )

EA also pushed all the other CnC's out of the doors and the least successful of those was Tiberium Twilight as ive heard.

I used to play generals 1, it was excellent in it's day.. I fear gens being free to play will suck.

But really, if your looking forward to generals two, no idea why you wouldn't pick up starcraft 2, such an epic game.

RTS games on xbox just suck in comparison to PC, which is why RTS on xbox is so very unpopular.

Thing is i would play RTS's on PC if i could play them at all my PC is way out of date to handle and type of game it even slows down for online flash games and im not prepared to change to PC when ive been on console for years and years since the release of PS2 and a small bit on PS1 and Xbox 360 the year it came out. Ive grown to become used to the buttons and different gameplay of RTS's on console+im also not prepared to pap alot of money and have all of the required components and other things.

A very decent system that would allow you to play starcraft 2 or pretty much any game would only cost about £300-£350

What I love about sc2 is, it puts you against players who are very close to your skill, so your never going to play people who are way better or alot worse, unless its a custom game.. Really needed on a game with so much depth...

Ive heard that alot dont play SC2 online because its the same rush or "nooby" stuff i hear alot of people saying this, anyays im fine playing on Xbox 360 RTS im used to it and i dont see the point in buying another machine when im having enough fun and other upcoming games im excited about.

Re: Command & Conquer Generals 2

On generals it was rush or nooby stuff simply because it was viable and almost always successful, even if your opponent knows you are doing it. Most definitely not on sc2.. Of course its possible to rush but it's not nearly as successful as it was on generals. There are no pro players who rush all the time, it just isn't viable like it was on generals. Command centre acts as a supply collection centre, most popular build for zerg is to build another one before anything else. For terran it's 1 barracks CC.

I suppose the reason for this is that theres alot more upgrades than C&C and alot more tech paths to go down, also, workers act as an attacking unit, they deal a small amount of damage and act as a buffer which makes it more difficult to rush. Your always building workers too, late game having 80 workers is about perfect on 4 bases. Consistently 100,000 players on sc2.. Can search for a 4v4 at 4 in the morning and you will get you a match within a minute which is pretty cool.

Anyway, GTA5 will be cool, but I doubt any big RTS games will come to xbox... It really doesn't work which I realised once I played command and conquer with you.
