So I started making a new track on the ground, but after a while, with a good amount of my track made, I want to move it to the sky. I have tried an area selector but it doesn't get big enough and you can multi-select a group of objects that big. Anyone have any ideas how I should go around moving my track to the sky?
Get as much as you can in the area selector,and RB or LB pressed down,and run your cursor over your area u want to move..im sure this is an option for big areas...
This is probably not the best answer, but you could use the snap grid set to 4 meters and raise each group of objects and snap them back into place (just use snap y, don't use snap x or z). You might need to glue the objects so you can snap the pivot point before moving it. It will still probably take several groupings though
I'm sure if you set the size of the area selector so it fits the widest point your track the move the area selector along the driving line and press a as it goes along it selects everything in the bubble when moved then adds the next selection to it only stops selecting when you press b and it should everything you selected only thing is as It's such a large area the editor don't like you moving it to easy
There is a maximum limit to the amount of objects you can multi-select. It doesn't take that long to reach it either. An entire driveline would easily exceed this amount.Originally Posted by BONKERSHTID
bit of a cheat method would be to use the terrain mod and sink the ground level.
Hey Luke. I've had to move an entire line around many times.
Here's the best way I've found to do it:
== Break up the line into 3 or 4 distinct rideline-object groups.
== Place a marker-plank (or whatever object is convenient) on each side of each dividing 'break' in the rideline.
== Incorporate each of the marker-planks into their respective rideline-object groups.
== At each dividing-break in the rideline, individually select and move each marker-plank so that it just slightly overlaps the one next to it.
================================================== ==================================================
================================================== ==================================================
== Drag the first section of the rideline as high as you want the entire track to sit, and place it there.
== Drag the second section of the rideline up until the marker-plank from each rideline-object group just slightly overlap.
== Repeat the process with the remaining rideline-object groups until completed. Then delete your marker-planks.
