The Logical Increments PC Buying Guide (FalconGuide)

    Ello.

So Xbox's and XboxLive has been a bit of a bore to me recently, and I have decided to invest in a PC.
However... I have no idea what I'm doing. I used to be in PC gaming, that's where I started, but since I embarked on a console journey, I have forgotten how to invest efficiently in a PC. I only picked up an Xbox to join my friends when CoD 4 came out, and now that the console gaming phenomena has passed (For me it has, anyways..), I would like to buy a good gaming PC to play some more dynamic games with mod support and a better FPS, since the 360 is nearing its technological end.

So, Ive been saving up some money from my paychecks to afford a decent gaming computer to last me a good long while, whilst maintaining a budget. And if you didn't know already, buying a PC via parts and components is loads cheaper than one already put together and everything.

Im not entirely technically savvy regarding hardware and all, so I have a bit of trouble deciding what to get.. so I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread like this.

So, the purpose of this thread is for those interested in buying a gaming PC, or discussion about such, or whatever. Just so long as it pertains to gaming PC's, really..

The following image is The Logical Increments PC Buying Guide (or FalconGuide): a buying guide for modern gaming PC's, ranging in budget, mostly. This isn't going to be my 100% deciding factor for what Im buying, but it will be a large percentage of it. It starts with the destitute amount for a low-end PC, and increases with each component needed until you have the most expensive PC, Extremist, for around $2000.

SO, if anyone IS knowledgeable about PC's and hardware, then please pitch in your two cents. I would actually request if someone could help me out on buying a PC. Im lookin to spend around $1000. Give or take a bit.

But enough of my telling you about what you're looking at, have a look for yourself!

(If anyone's wondering, I'm saving for the "outstanding" PC for $1138 approx.)

This is actually the full version of the guide. They have light versions for those less interested, which I will link below.

This is the original, full guide.

A light version consisting only of the components, mostly.

Re: The Logical Increments PC Buying Guide (FalconGuide)

With 1000 you have alot of options but I'd suggest not buying "the very best" of anything.

For example, top of the range intel i7 is about 700 pounds, but intel i5 is less than half the price and not much difference. Gfx cards are even more outrageous, a 1 year old card can be much less than half price of when it's "new".

At least in the UK, there really no point in buying seperate parts to build a system anymore because you really can't save money and it's not worth it.

Get a motherboard bundle or a complete system. Prices have really come down alot, you really can't go wrong.

Yeah, I'm going to compromise on it. I do have $1000, but I don't necessarily want to buy all of that..

I'm exploring every angle I can find, since it's a pretty big investment.
    Thanks, tho!
