    Deadlight

I'm surprised at how little this game is being played by people. First thing is that it's in the Summer of Arcade this year, so that gets it good publicity.

Also it's good MO) for speedrunning! I've gone through it about 3 or 4 times already just improving my times.

I'll admit it's a bit on the short side (took me about 4 hours nc. deaths) the first time), but that's what makes it so appealing to speed run.

Anyhow, let me know your views.

EDIT: Got a video uploading currently of speed running Act 1 in 16 minutes and 44 seconds.

    EDIT 2:

Just finished Deadlight, really nice game, although I felt like the game was a bit too short. I think there should have been more puzzles, more zombies.. Well actually just more of everything really.. But I give it 4½ out of 5 stars anyway

    Re: Deadlight

i have got a few spare ms points and i'm looking to get something else but every arcade game seems to be short-lived these days. i was looking at deadlight and it said playtime of 6 hours. that doesn't seem enough.

but you say you can speedrun it? i don't wanna check the vid due to spoilers.

might be worth a get then. is it scary?!

I wouldn't even say it's 6 hours long mate. With deaths/Loading/cutscenes I'd say it's around 4 hours, but that's if you're looking for collectibles and secrets along the way.

However saying that, like I said in OP the short-ness appeals to me because it makes for a quick speedrunning game. It's similar to Super Meat Boy in some respects as each level has it's own "Best Time", and each of your levels best times add up to a total which is how the leaderboards are calculated (Mine being 59 minutes and 14 seconds (Which is pretty short). So basically it means you can go back and perfect each stage of the three acts, which is superb for speedrunners.

Oh and I wouldn't say it's scary. It has a dark theme but it focuses more on the survival and avoidance of the undead, rather than the shock factor.

Oh and one more thing. The art style/graphics are absolutely beautiful in this game. I would suggest watching the IGN review (No spoilers in it) as that sums up the game pretty well!

i think its strange that you compare this to supermeatboy
because supermeatboy is just like trials very easy to learn but incredibly hard to master
and that is why its so suitable for speedrunning
and as long that you don't rage quite it will take a long time before you actually passed all tracks

i checked your vid for a few minutes but it didn't seem hard to play at all
it looked good though but i don't think it can justify its price even with its looks for such a short game

    Re: Deadlight

The movement of deadlight is a little stiff. There's some instance in the game when they throw a bunch of zombies at you and you only have an axe, and it's a pain in the *** on those parts. A lot of figuring thing out is trial and error, and then even doing it is trials and error. It's too short. There's no enough zombies. Not enough puzzles. Not enough everything.

But I like the game still. I would give it 4 stars. It's a fun game, once you know how to do everything it's fun to just play through the campaign a few times. The graphics, the environments, just looks amazing. I woul suggest buying it if it was 800 msp, but I don't think it's worth it for 1200.

    Re: Deadlight

I downloaded the demo partly because I liked the look of the track Extinguished, and soon bought the game.
I love the style/art, but like you guys I wish it was longer (and hence better value for money).
Overall 4/5 (would have been 5/5 if it had been 50% longer or so...)
