    Trials HD Turns 3!

That's right guys, way back in 2009 Trials HD bust onto the scene during the '09 Summer of Arcade promotion for Xbox Live.

Since then, Trials HD has over 2 million Trials HD content sales, 2 DLC packages, uncountable contests, and millions of smiles because of the Trials/RedLynx communities. We've had birthday cakes by Lespritdelescal and FatShady, Birthday wishes in video from T4KShadow, and more that I won't mention.

Trials HD sat in the most downloaded per week list for XBLA for (literally) years. For many of us, myself included, Trials HD was THE GAME that brought us to these forums. Trials HD is responsible for many friendships, competitions, and careers.

The Trials HD brought together people from all over the world to share thoughts, theories, and frustration with the Trials HD Riddle.

RedLynx is synonymous with Trials, and much of that is due to the word of mouth (and word of video) from you guys. Thank you for coming to our forum, thank you for building tracks, thank you for playing our games. We have some things in the works to celebrate, and we're kicking it off with a @RedLynxGamer Twitter Prize giveaway. Why Twitter? Because it's easy to use. We'll have some random drawings (retweet and follow kind of things) as well as a bit of trivia.

Thank you all for the last 3 years, and here's to you guys and the next 3! Come join us in the celebration!

If you have the time, please leave a comment with your favorite Trials HD memories and moments from the last few years.

    Re: Trials HD Turns 3!

Happy birthday trials HD! I've never gotten any more value out of a franchise than the Trials franchise. It feels like robbery the games give so much value and they are so cheap!

It was always a great feeling playing through the tracks in THD and being so proud when I was able to finally get 0 faults on harder and harder tracks. The day I passed King of the Hill, I was so excited! Soon after I was able to 0 fault it, and get platinum. After I was good in the tracks, I decided to hit up the editor. I never left after that. I've made over 50 tracks in THD, and I have over a dozen in Trials Evo, alot of mini games! It's so rewarding being able to make other games inside a bike game. Its awesome feeling having all your problems sorted out and the finished product working. I can say I did it! I have alot of fun doing it, but the coding is very frustrating sometimes.

Heres to Trials HD. One of the greatest games of all times. Thank you Redlynx for all the hard work you've put into these games.

    *cheers*

    Congratulations Redlynx!

My favorite memory from THD was the custom tracks. Seeing storcken's the plumber for the first time blew my mind. Ninjas and mediums, all of them were great. I also loved the editor too(although I wasnt very good at it ) and spent countless hours on.

The one moment I remember the most is when I passed Inferno II for the first time.

    Re: Trials HD Turns 3!

I discovered Trials HD in September 2009. I was laid off from from somewhat of a dream job the year before, and I was still looking for work during the recession. My friend Nick and I used to play videogames in the evenings over XBL after he finished work. One night, we both decided to download Trials HD. In all honesty, the "cover" of the game didn't do much to draw me in, and neither did the screen caps. I hadn't played a motorcycle game since Excitebike, and prior to that Kickstart for the C64.

I played the demo for Trials HD for 3 nights straight, spending a good deal of time on the ski jump skill game. On the third night, even without any real means to support myself, I purchased the full game.

I started out playing the game the same way I imagine most new people to the game did. I laughed at the skill games, found interesting ways to kill the rider, and battled with my friend to see who could get the best time/lowest faults on each of the tracks. As we both got better, the competition improved, but neither of us could beat King of the Hill, or any of the Extreme tracks.

After days and days of trying, I noticed that I still had one bike to unlock. I hit up the 360achievements.org forum and before I had the chance to post anything asking about the final bike, I saw a topic about the difficulty of the Marathon achievement. Inside was a link to the RedLynx forums. And so I discovered all of you.

The final bike turned out to be the Donkey bike, and I still had the problem of trying to figure out how to beat King of the Hill and the Extreme tracks. I eventually managed to figure it out, and I beat all of the tracks except Going up and Inferno II. It took me a few days to figure out "the box", and another week or so to figure out the slanted pallets, but I did it. It still stands as one of the happiest moments I've had playing the game.

Of course, if you're fighting to complete Inferno II, you're already hooked to the game. So when I beat it, I knew that I had so much left to do. My next goals were leaderboard goals, first 10,000, then 5,000. I thought I would be happy with 5,000, but then it was 2,000, and then 1,000. With these goals, zero-faults and platinum times were coming as well. managed to zero-fault Inferno II the day before the first DLC dropped) At first, getting a platinum time was extremely difficult for me. So difficult that I thought it was a huge achievement and recorded my runs with my PVR. If you go look at some of the platinum runs, they aren't very good. And by no means am I knocking on any platinum run.

During this time, the number one reason I improved was due to the friends that I had made on the forums, and by playing their custom tracks. I was so honoured to have these people allow me to get on their friend's lists, that I started making videos of their tracks. Then I started trying to make tracks of my own.

When I hit 500, I knew I was good enough to hit 250. Once I got there, I was stuck around 220 for a long time.

Then, in June 2010, while I was playing Trials HD with xDeeTeRx and CrowsBeak, my lung collapsed. I had several chest tubes inserted, and I was hospitalized for eight days. Luckily, my phone was still able to access the forums and chat.

Those eight days were probably the best thing that happened to my Trials playing. I likely hadn't had more than a day or two off from playing before that, so I was still stuck using the same inputs, making the same mistakes that I always was. After eight days without a controller in my hands, I was extremely clumsy, but I lost some of my bad habits. It was then that I realized that to get better I needed to analyse why I was doing everything that I was doing. I aimed my sights on 100% platinums and the top 100, eventually topping out at 75 before finding a job.

Over those two years, which were two pretty rough years of my life, Trials HD was more than just a game. It gave me motivation, it kept my spirits and my confidence up. It gave me a distraction when I needed one. It was the reason I met some fantastic, life-long friends. I made a cake for its birthday, I stayed up all night on DLC release dates, I made hundreds of videos, and with ShiftySamurai and vileDOMINATION, I threw a badass contest with some of the largest community sponsored prizes we've had. Maybe this sounds lame to you, and you're welcome to laugh, but how many times can you say you got so much from fifteen dollars?

Happy birthday, Trials HD. Thank you for three great years!

    Re: Trials HD Turns 3!

THD ruined me for other games. Nothing has been as satisfying as passing an extreme track for the first time (after MANY fails)

    Happy Birthday, my beloved!!
