yeah im having huge troubles with the feathering tactic.
my guy just keeps dying. either rolling backwards or hoping on his front wheel like an idiot. why does he keep doing this? whats wrong? I'm literally copying youtube videos of the techniquie down to a tee. exact amount of left stick movements, and exact number of rt hits(24). so why won't it work?
First off, I think it is a bad idea to try to copy someone exactly. Learn the general technique, not the exact stick movements.
Here is how you get up a steep slope:
1. Get both wheels in contact with the slope. This can be easy or hard. Generally this is harder if you have to jump onto the steep slope and then try to stick to it.
2. Learn forward and feather the throttle. The steeper the slope, the more you have to feather. You can pretty much get up any slope if you feather it enough.
You are most likely messing up step 1. If your front wheel is not in contact you will just roll backwards. If your back wheel is not in contact you will smash your face on the slope.
Step 1 is the hard part. Feathering is very easy once you are firmly on the slope.
You also need to make sure you're leaning forward before you start progressing up a steeper ramp. If you go from postured backwards to leaning forwards half way up a steep ramp your back wheel will most likely lose contact, and as the bikes are only rear wheel drive you'll lose traction and fall down or hit your face on the ramp.
Ever try tapping the A button repeatedly instead of using the trigger? It might sound a bit crazy but the only way I was able to pass the 3 leaning planks of wood on Inferno 3 was by using the A button instead of the trigger. For some reason it was easier for me to figure out how fast to tap the A button than it was to figure out how much pressure to apply on the trigger. Good Luck!
Listen to what these guys are saying. Also, I had a completely different image of "dying when feathering" in my head before I clicked on the thread.![]()
That's what I do too! Glad to see i'm not alone, finally found someone who taps the throttle instead of applying slight pressure. Although I tap RT repeatedly instead of A. I never thought of trying A but I imagine it could be much better as I could probably tap it faster. Much like on Ninja tracks when getting my front wheel on a ledge and holding RT and tapping X as opposed to LT because it's faster. Thanks for the ideaOriginally Posted by STROHSLITE![]()
