We all know gettings into highest rated feeds depends on your "average" rating. Here is why that is practically a broken way to do it.
...consider two scenarios...one guy makes a track that is so dumb and stupid that only his friends and maybe a few randoms bother to finish and rate, all his friends give him 5 stars, lets say 30 friends...here's a high ratio...
a different guy makes a track that some don't like, LOTS of DL and finishes, lots of ratings, say 5000 ratings, STILL averages 5 stars.
so someone explain in English why the dumb track with 30 ratings averaging to 4.78 or whatever beats the track with 5000 ratings and a 4.75 for example.
seems to me that the track with 5000 ratings and still a 5 star average was enjoyed by many more people then the one that was enjoyed by friends and a few randoms only...but guess which one gets into the feeds....
If we could rate 1-10, it would be fine to go by average, probably, im no mathmatician but it seems that with a greater span it would be fine, i dont know. if its not 1-10, u cant go by average...you should 200% go by the total number of 5 stars given. doesnt more 5 stars mean more people like it?![]()
I think everyone agrees a 1-10 system would be better, but how would it be represented? Shouldnt be that hard to figure out a way of doing it though.
Agree, but after changing the rating system, they also need to re-think the weighting system (i.e. a track with 4 ratings averaging 4 stars surely hasn't yet earnt a place next to a track with 5000 ratings averaging 4 stars)...
I won't hold my breath for any radical changes to TC though.
Just give us half stars.. I don't see any issues with TC that can't be easily improved to be honest.
I think the majority of the population rates one extreme or the other. I would bet money that 5 star and 1 star votes out-number 2,3, and 4 star votes by a huge margin overall.
I give track 1, 3, 4, 5* personally. If a track is below 3 star I don't ever want to see it again so I rate it one.Originally Posted by jook13

Its human nature to be biased and we all do it to different extents but i will agree that something needs improving because im really getting bored of flicking through 5* tripe to find something someone spent even a moderate amount of time, planning and effort on and then, even when i do find something, its got a 3 or 4 star rating and barely any downoads while a lagfest, roughly themed, scenic drive (hold RT) with z fighting all over the place trounces it with ratings AND downloads LMAO
I think a new count needs introduced, a play counter for each track. With a rating system your relying on the user being honest and fair but a play counter in conjunction with the rating will help show you where the real quality is and also should give slightly more weight to the people still likely to be playing this game in a few months
I suggested a 1-10 rating system a long time ago, but no one really bit... I think it would clear things up a bit.![]()
RL made some change, that i think was a great moove...but still, allot off bad track (my taste) appears high rating without reasons (the don`t move track as example)...
every time a give a try on TC, im disappoint and lost my time.
i don't really like skill game or boost bike game or what ever.
some creator who made that type of track are really good and have talent for sure.
but my type is PURE TRIALS...and high rating/48h etc...section, are full of none pure trials.
u know what, now i only play friend track...like in the old time, and don't use TC anymore.
waiting for MP on Xbox for new friends track, thats it.
keep riding !!
Everyone here has made very solid points, however I don't wanna drift to far away from the op. I specifically wonder what people feelings are about average rating with only five stars to average VS. quantity of 5 stars given. Seems like a no brainer to me...more 5 stars given = more people enjoyed it?!?!???!!! Yes?! No!?
