The last 3 cps on Lake Placid makes the track ***. I have 24f, but dont know if i can be bothered to get 3f or less.

FunkyBob's tracks seem like a poor man's version of attilla999's work, only less detailed and more absurd obstacles. I would be fond of his ninjas if they were more clean and less gimmicky.

I think it's only the last 2, the 3rd to last was fine.

Also, what defines a gimmicky obstacle?

I'd say people have different opinions but mine is that anything that is used very often that can be done with a simple no skill trick.

I think overhang obstacles are getting old and in my opinion are turning into a ninja gimmick. they're so easy. every great editor used to use them but now it's so overused.

To simplify my answer.. watch a replay of Hydrolunatic. this is definition of gimmicks everywhere. not to say its a bad track because it is actually done very well.

I hate that people think rail obstacles dont take skill, look at my new track: Confusion
Also, spargokuroths HD tracks were in the evo sense "gimmicks" but they were very well designed and thought out.

But yeah, a gimmick obstacle is something that takes no actual skill, but luck only.

I wouldn't say that they take no skill, but they certainly aren't hard -- there's only so much you can do on a rail.

    Re: NINJA Track Thread.

All I'm seeing is the fact that rails haven't really changed since THD, you ride under them and then either shoot off the end or flip up onto it, that's it.

If you're telling me there's more I'd love to see it, but I've seen hundreds of tracks and never seen anything new regarding rails*. Which isn't to say there's anything wrong with that obstacle, but idk about "you can do a lot of stuff".

*vertical rails where you catch your back tire don't count, there's nothing to that, it's not an obstacle.

It's not the rail in itself that it's difficult, it's how it is implemented in an obstacle makes it hard or easy/gimmicky.
