This week I learnt Kinect is, in many ways, better thn conT.

Still think Kinect is gimmicky? Convinced that you have the best arguement that not even I can refute?

    Refute this:

    OK

So pick up Joy Ride Juice and Kinect Joy Ride

    THEN!

pick up Child of Eden and a new controller

    So what you DO is:

    Play all four games

    Yes I said 4:

    BECAUSE

Child of Eden can be played with either Kinect or your new controller

    THEN

Meditate for half an hour (trust me it's worth the time).

    AnD FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!

U will have realized that Kinect version of each is FAR superior to the inferior controller. And then you will go YESSSSSSS!!!!

Kinect Joy Ride: Not playable because of really bad Kinect programming/recognition (at least that was the case when it was released, dont now if there have been any patches)
Joy Ride Turbo (XBLA): Fun arcade game but blatant Mario Kart rip-off
Child of Eden (Kinect): Playable but meh... (The Kinect recognition just isnt really precise)
Child of Eden (controller): Awesome game to chill out!!

And the best example that Kinect isnt working the way it should: Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor f you dont know what Im talking about just read any test for that "game")

    Just my 2 cents.

I thought the same of Joy Ride Kinect, but I got better at it. It's all about understanding when and what and how. Like in any game.

I got the kids a kenect, they liked it for a while. Once they got bored of petting baby tigers on the TV, they asked for the controller and Lego Batman again. I cant get them to play any Kinect games anymore, they find buttons easier and more intuitive. My kids are 3 and 5 by the way.

The Kinect is a simple gimmick, and I fell into the hype. I thought it would work well for my kids and wife, but its just not fun for them or me.

I cant stand this motion control craze. I feel that if the console makers keep trying to force feed us that crap, the gaming industry will crash. Nothing will ever be able to top the feel of simply using buttons to control your games. If buttons go away, you can bet your *** I will stop playing games and find a new way to pass my time.

    This exactly

But even if they go for motion control only, there´s still plenty of old games I never played to pass my time.

I'm not saying Kinect doesn't have it's uses. I imagine it would be a hella fun to play it with Skyrim. But it's just not worth the ridiculous asking price IMO.

My girlfriend uses her Kinect for exercise. Dance Central is actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be. So is the Gunstringer. I used to be so hard on the Kinect because, as was mentioned, motion control is such a gimmick lately. But after trying it, I realized how much fun it can be.

My only gripes are the lack of great games for Kinect, and I also feel like they are neglecting to make each game to their fullest potential. The Kinect is awesomely powerful, but some game devs fail to really utilize it.

There are people online who have "hacked" their Kinects to do things outside of gaming, and those uses seem to blow whatever most game devs do out of the water.

You make an excellent point! I just went on vacation and took my PS Vita. I downloaded Dracula X for the PSP onto it and for the first time ever I played through Symphany of the Night. Its one of the gems I missed back then and I am sure there are a lot more.
