Look at machinima, yogscast and all of those, they all make (serious) money from gaming videos.
The worst that will happen is the select video will be removed or muted. It has to be something extreme to get your channel taken down.
Like uploading lots of Rock band videos? lol -______- Once upon a time I had a youtube with over 8 million views, 8k subs and 750 videos. Then Jarr3tt88 bit the bullet when WMG shot it downOriginally Posted by T4KShadow![]()
I was offered this as well. Anyone actually done it yet?
Well that's odd lol. I guess it could be because of the music within the game, which other games like Trials don't have to worry about because the game creators actually compose the pieces. I remember a time where everything on Youtube seemed to be muted by WMG, but they seem to have reduced their hold on the community in recent times.Originally Posted by Jarr3tt88

Ok, I went for it. I enabled my account for monetization, and painstakingly went through my 1,000+ videos monetizing them 20 at a time... for some reason YouTube doesn't allow you to monetize more than 20 videos at a time. What a stupid limitation.
ANYWAY!
It seems to be pretty risk-free. YouTube didn't allow me to monetize videos that already had recognized third party content - i.e. some of my mountain bike videos with music I didn't write. During this process there were two videos (so far) for which I enabled monetization, and afterwards got an email from YouTube saying "Your video has been disabled from revenue sharing". Didn't seem to do any harm really. My account is still "In good standing" in all three categories - Community guidelines, Copyright strikes, and Content ID claims.
I'll post here again if anything changes.
I was just watching some of your videos and didn't see any ads from you except the ones at the bottom of the screen. Anyways, keep up the good content.Originally Posted by Malachyte

Ok, so this is completely ******ed. After I monetized every video on my account, I got an email from YouTube that said this:
It then listed off hundreds and hundreds of videos... nearly everything on my channel, including videos that I unquestionably owned the rights to - old vlog videos with me just talking to the camera, my own music with my own cover art, etc. etc.Dear Malachyte,
Thanks for submitting your video(s) for monetization.

I recently uploaded a new batch of Trials replays and monetized them all in the process, and the next day the same thing happened. All but one of them got "un-monetized" for the same reason. At this point I think around 1-2% of the videos on my channel are still monetized. Oh, all my unlisted videos for my first try runs on Ninja tracks stayed monetized... so you know, that's helpful... I can make money off the videos that get like 5-10 views each. Besides those, it seems completely arbitrary. A couple of my mountain bike videos stayed monetized, a handful of Trials replays stayed monetized, etc. I see plenty of video game footage on YouTube with adds... I have no idea why they hate me. There's no way I'm going through 1,000+ videos one by one to dispute this. So much for making a little extra income from YouTube... UGH.![]()
Interesting, I've noticed a change in the last month or so too.
Before about 75% of the videos I submitted for Monetization were accepted, however now I can't get even one too. It seems like you have to dispute every damn video now.![]()
Atleast the ones before the rules "changed" are still monetised.![]()
