I would like to see a fix for TC, but its really to be expected with a game that allows anybody to make anything and upload it to the internet. Who is really surprised there is so much half-assed things up? To most kids its just a little game. They get a kick out of seeing their name on TC.

I think the best thing to do is be patient. In a few months the majority will have forgotten this game and then it will be only us, like in the good old days. Eventually TC will settle down. By then most of us builders will have really gotten comfortable with this editor and we should be making top notch stuff.
^^^This. Also, at that stage the spammers and *******s we all already know about (no names! lol) will be getting one stars from everyone and will be less of an issue. The standard of rater will have improved so that only quality tracks "survive" to see the 48hr feed. Which is essentially what we all want. At least then if we dont make the feed we know it was down to the tracks quality and not being forced off of the new trials feed by someone uploading 20 tracks just after us!

I look at what I've achieved in the editor since pickin git up at the start of this game, look at where I want to get to and think about timeframes. Then I apply this to the majority of TC and realise they will be totally outclassed in a couple of months time by pretty much any forum user who has had help, feedback, used tutorials and so on.

I'm sure Jook is right and that things will improve. Imagine Mid Spetember when Borderlans 2 comes out. From that point on people will drift away to full prive retail games.

Re: petition to limit track central

? Right...but don't you think it is in Redlynx's best interest to have the largest number of people playing their game for the longest amount of time. The way I see it, if I made a product, and it was consumed by two types of people, the first type, a small minority that used the product as intended and wanted improvements made to increase it's usability, while alienating most of the second type. And the second type, a much larger majority that used the product not exactly the way I intended it, but they purchased it and used it nonetheless. I know which of two types of people I would cater to. It's all about the Benjamins.

Now, if the market has already been saturated, and both types of people have already purchased the maximum amount of product they will ever purchase, well then, that's a slightly different story. I just don't think that is what's going on here. Plus, if Redlynx gives a quarterly report to Ubisoft, I think they would much rather point at 500,000 users a month since release vs. 100,000 really dedicated users and say, "But look Ubi, Track Central is really cleaned up now that all the kids have left!"

That exact way of thinking has killed more companies than I care to think about. Making an inferior product to appeal to the wider demographic is still making an inferior product.

I am allready drifing away from it mainly because of this problem itself, again when you put a lot of time and effort into a track and it gets 2 hrs "feed time" you think whats the point? In a way its quite handy because i now find myself finishing skyrim and ive just had my first go of co-op Portal 2 online (if uve never played it and absolutly love funny co-op strategy games - get it)

Anyway back to the point ... im drifiting off it allready and will prob come back when TC has calmed down as predited ( but saying that tony hawk is out soon too )

i.e get it sorted - The prob u think will sort itself out, is allready happening!!

I've said this before, but I'll say it again here. Make tracks for yourself and mates. If you guys like it great. If you enjoyed making it, great. Anything beyond that is purely a bonus for me. I enjoy making tracks and my mates enjoy playing them. Frankly, thats why I build tracks. If you're doing it for any other reason then its just going to lead to a lot of frustration tbh. Sure, ratings and extra downloads are great. But they shouldnt be your driving force to make tracks imo, the driving force should be because you enjoy making them.

But thats just my opinion and I do understand all the frustration people feel.

Agreed. Keeping your dedicated fanbase satisfied is the most important thing for any gaming company. "Selling out" to the wider audience works initially but will eventually backfire.

It happens to pretty much every developer that EA buys. At this moment it is happening to Bioware.

Allright mate i wernt having a go, i was just saying how i felt

The prob for me is that ive got 2 mates that "own" this game ... 1 doesnt play it cos he crap, the other does plays it, but is also crap and has not got a chance on most the maps that i make!! He`s the kind of track builder that make the tracks with bits sticking all over the place, just hanging there ... u kno!!

So when i make tracks that "I" like to play it would also be nice to get it played by others with simular skill, and if u build something for a long time n approx 400 out of 700,000 people only get to see it ... then, a person like me with not that many Evo friends that will actually take the time to play my tracks, gets disheartened and moves on.

    Its only human

My thoughts exactly. I've got 9 friends on my list, and only one plays trials... In the case of my map, it's a re-creation of a classic zombie map. The simple logic is that when you see millions of people on the zombie leaderboards of CoD, you'd think there would be no problem with a track like this doing well on Trials... and there shouldn't be. The track was actually rated pretty high, even with only 1500 downloads for it.

I build for others to play and enjoy, otherwise, there is no point for me to build. The great thing about this editor and the ability to share is that the creator isn't just another blank interaction, like in every other game.
