Re: Rocky Busines one of my first tracks feedback please

Hi mate I tried your track Rocky Business and here is some feedback that may help for future builds:

The track is a hard and not a medium, this would put me off if I downloaded it straight from TC, a medium should be relatively user friendly and not provide too many obstacles that are tricky to navigate.

The design is pretty good, but you should avoid using cliff objects as the driving line because they arent designed for it and can cause random bumps and dips making it trickier than it needs to be.

You have some screen tear when you pass the physics ramp, there is no need for this, if you have screen tear keep tweaking the scenery and environment until its gone, there are a lot of tutorials on youtube and in the level editor forum here to help you with that. Also little details like the hump ramp sign just sitting on the floor, you can design a cool looking stand for it to improve the aesthetics.....those little details really add to atmosphere.

Once I got past the annoying rocks at the beginning and the hump part, I thought the line improved a lot. I think you can definitely make something great man.....this is a very good start and certainly a lot better than many attempts we see on TC Keep going and keep your thread updated with future tracks...

    Thanks for your feedback.
I Will look in to that tear problem checking out the tutorials.
Thougt IT was a medium after seeing some hard ones looking in to that for the future.
Stil working on A nice driving line think its the hardest part.
Cliff objects yeah i know what you mean I'll letting them go as a drive line.

Thanks for your tips i Will use them wissely
    On to my next track
    Cheers

No worries mate hope i helped. The only hard obstacles are at the start..the rocks and the double hump section...the second half is medium. Please remember its only my opinion and others may disagree on the difficulty level.

Re: Rocky Busines one of my first tracks feedback please

hey mate, tried ur track and i thought it was pretty cool, i tried ur first one as well and i have to say man that this was a major improvement i really enjoyed the ride through, just a couple of things i found annoying, i agree with emcee on the rock parts, i did bump and jump a lot on these where i didn't have to but still enjoyed the rock looking sections. i thought u used them pretty well but u could have made them a lot more random and really make ur own crazy rock makeup rather than just copying and pasting the same thing, but i still thought u did well for ur second track with that. i also noticed the screen tear and a bit of lag through a couple of sections of the track.

i also have to say the sign just out there, might not seem like much but when u decorate all the little things it really brings everything together. overall mate i liked it and thought the theme was pretty cool, bit more decoration in places would be good. i would like to see some more from u man, keep on building mate, well done

The lag was probably caused by having 4 lights, steam, fire, electric arcs, CP light and headlight all in one area. Its like the end where you have a bunch of effects in a small area too. Other tearing problems are most likely caused by the grass you used and/or the raindrops and rain splashes you've used in combination with other objects.

I dont have much to add to the feedback really, it was pretty much covered already! But noone else noticed the water plane that sticks out at the top of the ramp near the start? That was sloppy from you guys!

Re: Rocky Busines one of my first tracks feedback please

Not a bad track at all, little rough but the driving line was pretty clean and save for the lag I can't think of any "bad" things. I liked the 2nd half more than the first but it seems more like you improved as you progressed. Plop down some more props up front like you did towards the end and it will change the track a lot for the better. The rock parts, especially at the start, were a little sketchy as the rocks are not always predictable to drive on. You can probably solve this with some custom-physics blocks (thin planks) to create a stable surface just above the rock. The lag towards the end may actually be caused by the number of objects on the screen rather the few effects (steam, arcs, fire.) Since you don't need a background you should limit it. Start > Track Settings > Environment > Custom Settings > "Max Object View Distance" & "Max View Distance" - objects being the valuable one here. If you've already done this then you may have to start sacrificing some objects.

Other than that I enjoyed the track. Good job!
