Gigatrack Fans, are you out there?

First post. I love this game, been addicted ever since HD came out. I love long, fast, flowing and scenic tracks. Gigatrack is one of my favorites.

I am currently dedicating a lot of time to creating a series of Gigatracks and wondered who else (if anybody) is out there playing and/or making these types of tracks.

Thanks Redlynx for one of the best values in gaming and for the great tutorials section/videos!

    Cheers!

I am about to finish the first one. A 3.5 kilometer track. I will be doing a continuation track as soon as I release the first one, hopefully people will play it and I'll get some feedback so I can adjust the forthcoming attempts.

As you had as one of your options for your poll, Gigatrack is fun every once and a while. But... I prefer short, compact, and detailed tracks and skill games. Rather than a user created map that stretches all the way across the map. But that is my opinion.

All gigatracks except the actual Gigatrack suck and all future ones will also suck. Unless you are willing to put several months of work into your gigatrack then it will suck, period. Supposedly, the person who made the real Gigatrack spent the entire development time of Trials Evolution making that track. Come back to me after you spent an entire year on it and then I might believe that you made a good gigatrack.

Well that only makes me want to spend another month on it... :0)

Seriously, my track probably won't compare, specially not in length, my complexity bar is already in the red and i am not quite done, but I will make sure it's fun before I put it out there.

    Now, I need to know:

    • Where did you read those facts about THE original Gigatrack?
    • What are the other Gigatrack attempts you've played? I want to make sure I don't suck, like them!

Faultless is not hard. Faultless + a great time is where it's at!
As a true Gigatrack fan I qualify in both... :0)

Re: Gigatrack Fans, are you out there?

I have put so much thought into my design that I nearly drove myself crazy.

Do I keep it very natural and minimalistic (like the original gigatrack)? I DID.

Do I keep it the difficulty level the same? Through most of the track I did. But I wanted to increase the difficulty in certain parts, just for novelty purposes.

Do I bring elements or concepts from the original to connect it/pay tribute? I am working on it.

Do I make it just as long? I tried, it wasn't possible for me. My track is 3.2 Kilometers, and I gotta believe the original Gigatrack is more than 4.
I do not know how they were able to make a track that long with all of the terrain shaping, effects and animations that are going on, specially in the background. I find it impossible to replicate, but I would LOVE to know how they did it.

I have decided that instead of trying to surpass or equal the length of the original, I will just create a "story" that starts with the first Gigatrack I am about to finish. The second one will continue the story from where the first one concluded. Hopefully this way you can play what in my mind would have been "the longest track in history" but without the frustration of doing so.

You will be able to do it in chapters... lol
