Rope bridge, chain and rope linking

I can't seem to find a way to link any of these together without having them create 'stiff'bits. I would like to have at least 2 or 3 ropes connected and still keep their lovely physics. I've tried hinges with dummy objects and so on but it will either not link up well visually or it loses the lovely abbilities.

Use a physics joint and activate physics on the objects (from memory). But they may not look great visually unless you get them absolutely perfect. I find them very hit and miss tbh and just tend to avoid them altogether, so I can see your problems.

Re: Rope bridge, chain and rope linking

I made myself a chain (working nicely) out of hinges, dummy objects and single links but the ropes go a lil' crazy at the tips, just wondering if there is a way to make it look good, it works and all and is drive-able but I want the ropes to link up visually and it would be eassier on the complexity bar I guess if I could make chains with the big prop as well instead of all the seperate links...

what about setting the friction to 0 on the links as well.

I've tried that but it seems the 'ends' of the object are not the ends of the ropes, the sticking out bits at the end want to hang loose for some reason. I think I might be asking to much of these objects. Right now I am focusing on the rope object to see if I can get them to work and so far the rope / ball hinge / dummy object / ball hinge / rope seems to work the best but it is just horrible to look at. I may just have to give up on long roes, chains and bridges. Thanks for the help in any case.

Like I say, this is why I tend to not use them personally. They should have a certain look, that you want to achieve, that doesnt seem possible on a cionsistent basis. Nothing worse than having three in a track and two work and one doesnt. It ruins the whole feel. Better to either not have them, or not have the physics enabled on them I think. Wish w had an answer for you, then I could use it as well! lol

what about glueing the the end sections together so they perfectly overlap, joints kissing each other like um that number bill and ted think of, it will shorten the rope by a small amount, may work not tried it.
