I like hand held controllers.. Never liked kinect.. I just wonder when it will all be digital.. Preorder online, download straight to xbox no discs, couldnt be bothered to read it all but if 720 isnt all digital its still primitive.. A 'hub' makes me think it would be without discs.. plug in, connect to internet, pay, download.

I agree to some extent, but a large number of people still love their physical media. And the device is said to have a blu-ray player built in.

I like my music digital, but my games in disc form (or cartridge like DS) because it is more tangible and has actual re-sell value.

Would you think differently if Microsoft had different policies? Like lets say 7 day product satisfaction is implemented to all online media.. Sure microsoft sees around stuff like this any money hungry business would but if it were so, I think people would be less prone to buy discs. Maybe put limitations on it, lose 50 cents or something everytime you use refunded money for another purchase.

As sad as it sounds, it doesn't really make sense to have physical copies of media anymore. Economically, it costs a lot to design, produce, manufacture and transport the disks, boxes and manuals when the product can be distributed over the Internet without any of these issues. It also prevents second hand sales which is a big bonus in the eyes of the publishers. I really can't imagine it will be too long before all media will be distributed electronically to be honest. One would hope that this transition would lead to reduced prices for the consumer and help preserve the environment. It's a win-win as far as I'm concerned as long as it is done the right way.

Another part of it for me is ware and tear on hardware, The constant need for a laser to read discs.. Any machine is a ticking time bomb if you play games on disc constantly.. In my opinion I think switching to digital media is the only thing consoles are missing. You can put out patches and updates and maybe help performance but I dont believe it will stop these machines from breaking.. Its either a really clever scheme to get you to buy more or something is holding them back.

Re: xbox 720 56 page leaked document

It seems that on average (US and UK) that 77% of homes have internet access.

That still leaves nearly a quarter of the (listed) population left out of the loop when it comes to online only digital copies of games.

I have quite a few friends who game frequently, but not online due to lack of access.

I agree with what you guys are saying, but it would be a bold move to alienate what might still be a significant part of the market.
