Re: whats your town/city great for???

Sedgley, Dudley, West Midlands. 11k population.

famous for bull baiting 200 years ago. the Bull Ring is now a traffic island known as, um, the Bull Ring. the old courthouse next to the Bull Ring is now a pub, as is the old prison. i only found out The Red Lion was the old prison today from reading wiki! and now i think of the set up in there, it makes sense...

so nice topic Morfy, i've found out some stuff about my own village!

we've got a Beacon Hill place where there's a tower we climbed as kids, even though half the steps had fallen away. the villagers would light up the tower at the top to warn of invaders back in ye olde days. says on wiki you can see the Bristol Channel from the Beacon, which is god knows how many miles away.
