Some of you may have read a previous post of mine advising that i found the games gravity a bit "floaty" and im not here to moan about it (as pointed out and taken on board its a new game and i need to get used to it) ..
.. however i had just returned from a friends house who has the game to and i noticed that when i played it, it felt a dam lot sharper and faster than mine and it got me thinking ... why?
Now the only difference in his setup is that his has an elite xbox ( i have the pants arcade ) and he is viewing it via an LCD tv ( i own a CRT ), i cant see any reason that its the xbox and the only major difference is hardware is the elite has a bigger Hard drive, but i wondered could it be anything to do with the frame rate it comes out on my CRT or the TV displaying it in a different Hz that it cant handle? The funny thing is that when u watch a recording on my phone of my setup, whilst playing the same level/bike on his tv u can clearly see that there is a slight difference.
do u think the "floaty" feeling i get on my console could purley be down to the CRT TV not being able to handle it? ( its a sony triniton, so u would have thought its cool) Or was is just a mental illusion i had because obviously the game look much much nicer on an LCD?
Has anybody else noticed this??
Refresh rate could possibly play a factor....i would imagine the lcd refreshes faster than your crt...couldnt say for sure i play on a 40 in lcd and a 22 led..but never noticed a difference
While I never played Evo on anything but my 32" emerson LCD, I have played HD on this set AND a Sony Trinitron, and I didn't notice any difference (other than graphics). So I don't know...
Nah, his crt is probably way faster to refresh than most of the lcd televisions.Originally Posted by RACFinest

It's not about being materialistic, it's about getting the most out of the gaming experience. I mean what's the point of playing Trials HD if it's not in HD!?
Seriously though, it's well worth the investment. Going from standard def to HD is like going from black and white to colour. You could never go back.
what kind of adapter are you using to connect the xbox to the CRT? is it an official Microsoft VGA adapter? I know people have reported issues with third party VGA adapters. The issues are usually a blurry picture, but a bad adapter may also cause some additional input lag, which sounds like what you are describing.
do you have issues with other games, or just Trials Evo?
i play on an old tube tv quit making excuses of why you suck at evo
