im trying to use the " Rope bridge " from the parts and small items section.
In HD i could select the object, push up and select glue object, and then enable the physics and it would work simple?? .... now i select the bridge and it gives me no option to glue it, i just get visability, phsyics, lock to drive line, coloirize and save??
If i go into > common/physics there is an option for object glue, i select that, select the rope bridge and then glue to the 2 other object, but then when i go back into the object properties i cannot select "physics on" so the rope bridge is static and totally pointless. I find the whole thing really confusing and am getting totally dishearted with it all.
Im dsylexic, so please dont point me towards any written guides, ive looked at some vids, but they do not cover what i want to do, if it this hard to make a friggin rope bridge, then im dreading what the rest of the tools are like
Update, i can glue the bridge to the other objects now but the bridge is static, i cannot get the rope bridge to act inpendandtly from the objects it glued to, either its static or if i turn on physics, all the objects have physics not just the bridge
Hold Rb, while holding select all objects you want to glue. Once selected, let go of Rb go into properties and select glue. Confirm changes and then add physics. Rope wil not act alone when in the glued group.. A glued group acts as one object.
Simple, you glue the rope bridge to a rotational hinge, not that hard, as the post above said when you glue something it acts as a whole, so of course it wouldn't move, but with hinges, you can "glue" objects together to let them move
What are you trying to accomplish? Swaying ropes? Bridge in water? Enlighten us.
im trying to attach the "simple rope bridge" provided in the game too 2 posts, so that when u ride over it the bridge actually moves with the weight of the rider, sounds simple ...... but it making me want to kill a lot of things atm![]()
You have to use a physic joint.
Found in: Common -->Physics -->Physic Joint
Open the properties and set the joint as a rotation hinge and select the two objects.
not sorted, but better than it was after this info >
^^^ this...
Physics joint (in the common menu)
Add one to each post and bridge end.
Turn on 'disable collision'
I always use the fixed post as Target 1 and bridge as Target 2
Select pivots and position them at the ends of the bridge.
Turn physics on for bridge.
Voila...
all to make a bridge ????
thanks for ure help peeps but im still not satisfied
You just need to mess around with the hinge properties now. Have you tried setting the type to point to point?Originally Posted by GreenCandy
if its too loose or droops on the corners, try a 2nd physics joint that support your corners, i would use a dummy objects with no physics set several meters above the corners to anchor them to.
