Hi all, i read a post the other day (apologies i cant remember users name & now i cant find the post!), which basically was a track builder that is no longer gonna build tracks, one of the reasons given was the rating system, and the fact that he spends hours designing tracks (however he should of said days/weeks) and they get knocked off the leaderboard with only about 800 votes, i feel its a shame that talented people are stopping building because of this and that ultimately the only people who lose out is, us the players.
i did some checking and NONE of the tracks ive downloaded are anywhere near 50% ratio Downloads to ratings,
so my idea is this (apologies if its been suggested before)
why cant redlynx make the rating compulsory. ie: when you have completed track, you cannot leave that screen untill you have rated, as 1star in my book is better than no rating at all, & having to rate a track is a small price to pay especially when the designer has spent days possibly weeks (if its good) creating it??????
i would imagine logistically this woyuld not be hard to achieve, also a couple of lines of text would be good like the rating system on android apps etc, 3stars & "really great flow, but custom cams not working" something like that, anyway just a thought.

Yeah it would be a really good idea to make ratings compulsory, as I am guilty of not rating sometimes because I don't get prompted if I restarted the track after I had an attempt, then I just forget about it. Then of course there is the people who just dont bother! Although the comment idea is good you could just message them if you really enjoyed the track.
This has been discussed before. Compulsory ratings are bad because they are well...compulsive. Forcing people to rate a track is stupid. The only time this is appropriate is on a gimmick track.
On a speedrunning track, there is absolutely no way you can appropriately rate the track after one playthrough.
Sometimes I also skip rating a track because I don't feel like I'm qualified to, either because I'm biased or not good enough.

The rating system is what it is. There really isnt much that could be done to make it improed, fair and "correct". However, popping up the rate notice when you have hit restart is a bloody good idea. That infuriates me and of course only effects tracks we like enough to re-run and therefore would want to rate! lol
I also noticed that the tracks that are highest rated in there category are just acumulating more and more ratings because they're decent and easy to access. I think the highest rated per category should reset every month or 3 months because theres little chance a track can even get close to that amount of downloads or ratings in 48 hours or a week.
Completely agree with that but also not force to rate but rather more criteria to rate upon...exp theme driveline, flow etc...more than just a 1 to 5 system....hoping at leastOriginally Posted by graver067966739

The ratings system is what it is?? Lol, sounds like uv been watching american chopper (as they use this line all the time to end the conversation if they dont want to talk about a certain subject) however Its a good job redlynx didnt say that about MP or the other errors on release or we would all be on rank 1 on MP & we would all have summat proper to winge about, also what infuriates you? The compulsary rating thing?
