Can I improve performance by making objects invisible?
The track I'm trying to release uses practically no lights/effects/physics and the complexity meter is maxed out... So I've just got a bunch of objects(Tons of seed buildings) in a relatively small space. But I'm running into lag. My track does curve so at the beginning of it you can see all the decorations and the last half of the track in the distance. that's mainly where it lags.
Will turning the small objects in the distance invisible help with this at all? Also will turning objects that I've already passed help either?

Make your own building, then copy & paste. Those seeds take up way too much complexity.
Also save building to favourites (for future), but be sure to make visual changes to buildings after copy n paste process.
If your whole track is already built through/over these seeds, then hold LB, select all buildings that are not on the driving line, press up on the D-pad, go into advanced physics, set physics type to decoration only. That should hopefully reduce some complexity and lag.
Also If you have any Grass (variation 1) placed on your map, remove them since they cause lag as they are bugged (although this was most likely fixed in recent patch, not sure).
You can also go into tracks settings, environment, and reduce both object view distance slider and the one above it, it helps.

Re: Can I improve performance by making objects invisible?
I tried this both making thing invisible before and after and it didn't seem to make any difference...what I did get to work somewhat was use an area effect bubble and pull the draw distance way down in spots where you don't see the rest of the track. You'll have to play with the sliders to get what works for you, good luck. I've learned that you really have to watch how you make curves in your track before hand because seeing the rest of the track seems to kill performance.

Maybe this might help http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jyMX3-au5c (Trials Evolution - Pro Tips Tutorial #1 - Optimization)
Also if your track is in the day then there will be no need for your headlights, turn down the intensity all the way down. I did this and it removed lag completely from 2 of my tracks that I had trouble with.

Check out the latest rl video tutorial, its all about optimisation and might help.
