Message about too many physics objects in a certain area

Anyone who has made a track with a lot of detail has probably seen this message. I cant remember the exact wording but its something like "Max amount of physics objects allowed in this area, some objects have no physics properties and can be driven through."

I understand what the message is telling me, but I have yet to see the effects in action. Does anybody know how the editor decides which objects it turns the physics properties off? Is it simply new objects as you create them? perhaps objects furthest to the drive line? Does it take into account background objects that I already have turned to "decoration only"?

Perhaps a developer can enlighten us, because knowing what is going on here can help max out detail. It would at least put me at ease a bit cause I start to semi-panic when I see this message.

I'd like to know more about this too, maybe the game decides to turn off physics properties on the more complex objecs, but it's just what i like to think.

I've had this too, I wonder if its like the "too many light sources" message. Its more about the fact that we're "looking up the track" in the editor sometimes and the game can see the whole track ahead and freaks out by showing the message. As opposed to looking "across" the track and only seeing a small section. Because I've yet to have a light NOT work properly after that message and I've yet to find the physics object that no longer has physics working on it.

But an answer would really cut down on these moments!

i made a skill game whit flipper and bike... (not online)

in some case (whit high speed induce by a flipper) the front wheel pass trough the vertical ramp (bike stuck to it) and the bike slide down, following the curve ramp.

i think that, the surface of object could be less "solid" when that message appear.
but, it ave to hit whit big force...
nothing to bother whit standard utilization.

nothing sure, but that what i think for now.

    sorry if im not clear

    hi

from what i understand its really down to the complexity of the detection model, i had this pop up with about 40 custom collisions that were inside a static 90meter physics bubble, the game held frame rate, the key to deciphering the message is the last part about the objects having no body.

the good thing with the custom collision is there simplicity, cubes/spheres/etc, i think the game could handle far more than 40 of them.

heh, what you are talking about is something different. With fast moving objects, they can glitch through other objects. It has something to do with the timing, if your object is going fast and hits in between frames it will glitch into the other object.

Im starting to think anything built is assumed to be physical wether or not its properties say otherwise.. Unless there's more to it.. I assumed changing the option to decoration made it non physical but in my last track, it begged to differ my huge custom built structures were giving me the message even though I had labeled them decorations.

i had this consistently on one track in the same place, and there were no physics objects there.
and yet i built this big contraption at the end with a bunch of physics, glue, area effectors etc... no message

I see some developers popping in and out of the forums. Any of you guys care to share your knowledge in this issue?
