I had pretty much all the problems you had with Showbiz that came with my PVR. I read about it online and those are common issues. Ive had none of those problems when i got TotalMedia Extreme. Its an older version that prevously came with PVRs but it still works. I have no idea why Hauppauge made the switch.
As for the software- i got it off torrents, i dont see anything wrong with that because its basically paid for by the pvr, just a different software that gives better support. If you want help searchin for it, send me a PM or send a message to my gamertag. Id imagine this would be easier and quicker than havin to go through their customer service but thats up to you man.
