The main difference between old school arcades and new internet leaderboards is how the scores are recorded. With Trials, you get a personal best score and it overwrites your old one.

With the old arcades, you could get all ten top spots simply trying to beat your personal score since it didnt replace your old score.

You now have to go out of your way to make a second account to get the effect. There is no real "fix" for this that I can see, other than something like having the leaderboards a gold member only feature. I wouldnt mind it, but millions wouldnt stand for something like that.

Ohhh yeah good thinking. You don't think a public, personal top 10 that people could see would help alleviate the problem?

It could help a bit, I doubt it would fix it though. High Deff is doing it out of anger, for what he feels is revenge. He is throwing a hissy fit and my favorite game is suffering for it.

Yeah it is what it is. Maybe in this instance it's a deeper thing in addition to the design problem. Something the design can't really answer for.

Went from ranked 4800's to 30th on Swamp Fever. I could improve it more but i really hate that track.

The Dev Team did not support multi-accounting in HD. Sebbbi or Sipe made a somewhat positive statement ( similar to Shifty's old arcade cabinet example ) about it and backtracked pretty quick.

Unfortunately unless the lb's are set to only accept single accts from each console or only gold accounts there's no way to prevent it.

even if RL deleted all the multi-accounts on the LB's then those same people would just remake accounts with totally different names, and locales. therefore making themselves untrackable.

so while i'd love RL to fix it, i can't really see how they could do it

making the leaderboard for Gold members only would suit me fine. but i assume it'd hit RL's sales if they did that.

so i can't really think of a good solution...
