    Re: Personal Best Thread

Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

Thats like saying "OK, we have made this great game, that people love, oh wait some ******bags are ruining it! lets do damn all to fix it!"

    Personal Best Thread

The same point was brought up about Trials HD. I am sorry that you feel the Leaderboard is ruined by a couple of people who play with multiple accounts.

Im not aming any anger at you shifty, I know you're a good guy but the team have different views on multi-accounting because none of "the team" put tonnes of hours into speedrunning a track to get knocked out of the top 10 by some kid with 3 accounts. That time investment becomes a waste and it's extremely frustrating. I'm no being facetious but considering that there isn't a single RedLynx developer in the top 150 global I don't expect them to understand. Im not aiming this at you shifty but there's a lot of people here including myself who could easily just keep creating accounts and spamming one track with very high scores which would push a lot of players who worked hard out of the top 100 undeservedly. If there's no repercussions for multi-accounting, I say we all do it and totally sidef*ck the leaderboard.

    Personal Best Thread

We did put thousands of hours into making the game though, so to think that we don't care is absurd.

There will ALWAYS be someone who thinks that having their name on a list twice makes them more accomplished somehow. It doesn't. It's unsportsmanlike, but those same people wouldn't care.

There is literally nothing I can do about multi-accounters. Honestly, I'm not even in Finland. But I will talk about it with the dev team and share the results, if any, of those talks with anyone on the boards.

If everyone decides to spam the LBs, that's totally up to them. But it's the same unsporting conduct that 99.999% of people hate. You guys are ALL better than that. It's annoying to see someone screwing up the LBs, but does that mean you really want to sink to that level? 2 kids (possibly only 2) out of the 600,000 people on the LBs have done this. It sucks, but it isn't really catastrophic.

Leaderboards will never be like they used to be. Back in the old arcade days I ruled one machine
Circus charlie at my local and I had 6 out of the top 10 on the leaderboards. This leaderboard in this game showed the top 10 scores ever recorded on the machine which I liked you could be second best but have only the 5th score. Now these days people claim I've got the second best time but do they really? Let's say I got first an you got second. Every thinks your second quickest no one realizes that I have actually got 2 more time under mine but above yours.

Just some rambling but who really knows who has got the second quickest time?

I think that out of respect for the player base, Redlynx should do their best to remove the ones that we know for sure, and also the ones which have the highest impact on the LB. Sure there may be others multi-accounting, but they don't have near as big of an impact. Just my opinion.

Thanks for addressing this Shifty. Seems reasonable to me that RL can't delete accts based on our accusations.

Hideff did ask to have his multipe accts deleted, not sure if that would make a difference, i imagine it takes more than a click of a couple buttons to get rid of an acct across the game.

I think it's on us to show the ppl who do this how unacceptable it is. Most of the ppl who can mess up the first couple pages come around here, let'em have it. In the right thread preferably

and i appreciate all those who could multi, or have in the past, but don't for evo

See I don't know, back in the day you didn't have a choice, it was just the way the technology worked; they didn't try to build in a personal profile system, so those top slots were just general public slots and no one could blame you for taking up more than one. Here, you've got a choice, and so it means something when you take up multiple slots; it suggests a thought process, and people get to speculating. Completely understandably, they might get irritated when they get pushed down and so that speculation can turn a certain shade.

I know what you mean about the difference between getting the "top time" once vs multiple top times; maybe it boils down to the difference between showing people it was a fluke vs proving a consistent skill. Maybe a way the current design could be modified would be to show a sub-LB, under someone's personal gobal slot, that showed your next best runs too. That way, people could retain their proper, global rank and also show off how great they are in case anyone was curious.

The main difference between old school arcades and new internet leaderboards is how the scores are recorded. With Trials, you get a personal best score and it overwrites your old one.

With the old arcades, you could get all ten top spots simply trying to beat your personal score since it didnt replace your old score.

You now have to go out of your way to make a second account to get the effect. There is no real "fix" for this that I can see, other than something like having the leaderboards a gold member only feature. I wouldnt mind it, but millions wouldnt stand for something like that.
